A normal day at my shop back here in Romania: 5 Disco2's, one Defender and one Disco1. They will receive some custom bumpers and other protection that I fabricate for Land Rover.

What does a decent used diesel Disco sell for there?

Interesting, the Disco on the left is RHD and has English plates... Whats the story with that?

Land Rover Perentie desert scout vehicle of the Australian Army. There was a version designed to carry a motorcycle but in practice I don't know if those were ever deployed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Perentie

Gotta love a LWB. In the process of stuffing some detroit products and 4:71 gears in her. Thinking about making some chromoly caster correcting arms so I can go up another 2". They aint cheap to work on, but they are real trucks, axles equal to dana 60's and solid chassis, I believe mine weighs in at #5800 if I remember correctly, and thats with a body & motor thats mostly aluminum. Love to have Defender 90 but they command some serious bank in these parts !

Love this thread !

Interesting.
There is also a place in Salt Lake that is rover savvy. Forget the name of the place but the owner Bill seems very willing to share knowledge over the phone. I spent a lot of time chatting with him and eventually I ordered gears and lockers from him. He really believes the problem with the motors is not a lack of power, its the gearing. Most come with 3:54 gears (or there about) and Rover would lower the transfer box ratios, your 1.2 high range is good, but if you still have un-locked 3:54's maybe a set of 4:43's or 4:71's would be a thought ? Those little V-s are fine churning along at 3000 rpm. They really dont like to be dogged and you (and I) living at higher elevations really need that motor turning to keep it sucking the thin air. Most of the information is what I learned from a few months of trying to get more power out of my 4.2 and asking a lot of questions. Thats a sweet ride you have there

I've just been to drop the van off to have a windscreen replaced. They had just finished doing the screen on this. Sorry about the phone picture
