I forgot to mention that I use Windows systems. Kdenlive looks like it is for Linux and Mac...or did I miss something?

Thanks for the info. I have hard drive full of pics/video but most needs editing and I also want it to look good when I show it to others.

Windows Live Movie Maker - Free, easy to use, limited in what it can do
Pinnacle Studio - Fairly inexpensive, easy to use, buggy as hell
Sony Vegas Movie Studio - Inexpensive (you can get HD Platinum for ~ $65 on Amazon), Bigger learning curve than the one 's above but more flexibility as well, and it's a precursor to Sony Vegas Pro if you decide to go on to bigger and better things. There are many tutorials on Youtube. Vegas also comes out with frequent bug fixes for a version whereas Pinnacle seems to have the same bugs across major releases.

There's also Cyberlink PowerDirector, though I've only used trial versions of it so can't comment on usability. I suggest downloading trial versions of the one's mentioned and find which works best for you.

Oh, a windows user.
You probably ride a DR650 too

Windows Live Movie Maker does a reasonable job.

kdenlive can be made to work on windows, but the effort wouldn't be worth it.

This was my very first attempt at stitching together something for the kids using footage clogging up my laptop from last year. I know it's not great but shows what can be done by someone with zero editing experience in an afternoon. There's tons of capability with PowerDirector to create really pro tour video once you get the hang of it and as long as you don't move your files around in the computer and leave the graphics accelerator off (not really required and better for slower processors anyway) there are no glitches or bugs I've come across yet. Videos tend to appear like they're "stuttering" just a wee bit during the previews but once they're rendered/finalized even really, really big HD files come out perfectly as intended. Whatever you decide make sure you have a bit more system capability in your computer than the program requires as "just enough" usually isn't.

(It was a bit stormy up here while I tried to embed the clip so if it doesn't work try this http://youtu.be/MfAiNIu5TnY)

....and....ACTION!

Man, that was great! Handlebar Mustache, Hello Kitty boots, and a machine that is the by product of drunk KTM and Articat sex! What more could you want in a video!

I will try Cyberlink. I used Windows movie maker the other day to try it. Simple to use...not many options (which may be a good thing).

Nordie- you know us DR owners...we are the guys that pick on the KLR owners in the trailer park...only because our double wide has a porch! Yep, I still use windows...XP at that!
