I think, music is, to a degree, necessary for a well edited video. If it's just some bloke riding his bike with the camera mounted on the tank and nothing else to see - yes, we only want the engine sound.
But when there are several angles, onboard, flybys, panorama shots, timelapses etc, music is important to transport the message, the emotions. It would just sound odd if there's a cut in the sound every time the angle changes. A fair balance between engine sound and music is difficult, but vital too keep the viewer interested.

Abusing the dr650 video.

I can only say that this bike is the toughest thing i've ever had by far. 2 years of solid beating at least twice a week and never missed a beat.
