They're rarely far away from the street, for example the shot with the train tracks (Video #1) is shot from the street above. But nevertheless, it is a lot of work and time. One flyby shot takes around 5-10 minutes and cutting the videos was a task done on multiple weekends. I like filming though and by setting up the camera and looking for good spots I look at the landscape in a different way and take more time - it can add to the experience. If you're not having fun, because you "have to film", you shouldn't be doing it in the first place.
