No small accomplishment, that. They eat them critters down thar (and the critters know it)!

Nicely rigged LS650 in Idaho

Here's the bike:

It's at Lonnie Shelton's shop - NW Sidecars - in Boise Idaho, I don't know much more specific info about this rig than what the Craigslist posting has:

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/mcy/1159012691.html

But I did put over 10K miles on my Savage/Cozy outfit - it was a hoot and a giggle to slash through town with, could commute the freeway, and did several 500 mile trips with it:

I sold the Savge outfit to build an R1100GS rig, which is faster, and more comfortable - but is not as nimble, nor as much fun to just toss around as the smaller outfit.

The Savage is a great tug for a lightweight sidecar - it's simple to work on, responds well to tuning (camshaft, exhaust, carburation) has gobs of torque, a decent frame, and is utterly reliable. lts belt drive makes for a very smooth power train, the engine's counter-rotating balance shaft is effective, and its slightly raked front forks give decent front end geometry for hack service.

On the older model Savages, I'd replace (or re-shape and recover) the truely dreadful seat, change out the camchain for an aftermarket hardened chain, ditch the strangling muffler, re-jet the carb, install a decent fork brace, and swap the stock bars for 19-21" wide bars with 3-4" of rise - 1" Harley stock bars work well on the Savage.

Lonnie is a competent rigger, knows the Velorex very well, and his outfits are pretty stoutly tacked together - I'd think that this rig would be ready to go as is, but there'd be lots of room to tweak and improve on it.

Cheers

Jim

It does have some bumps, small dents and bruises but overall this bike is in great shape.

I've rode this bike home from every where I've ridden it. Up to Pacific City, up and over the coast range to Yachats (all off road), all over the Detroit FS roads, several trips to the coast. All over the valley! Right now the bike has about 15500 km. With the nice weather, this will go up!
Asking $6500 cash or what do you have to trade? Looking for a nice VW Bus
Let me know if you want more pics or info.

New lower price: $6500 and drive it home today!

Cause they baby 'em out west, they just wanna look at 'em. They're too busy watching whales and hugging trees and being concerned about CO2. On this end we ride 'em 'til they're used up and send the CO2 on over to the UK.
