the price for clean 912 has gone through the roof in the last ten years. they used to be poor mans 911's but they made so few of them that they are now a sought after and worth it.

It is amazing as well that my 914 is shooting up in value. Even with the financial times. Maybe she is my retirement fund?

Watch out for rust. The boxbeams aren't painted on the inside.

I live in Idaho. Things do not rust here. It is not common to see old cars parked in a field for over 50 years with only some very light surface rust.

But my teener is rarely driven, and never in bad weather. According to it's original owner it had seen rain less than 10 times in it's life, and that is a tradition I intend on keeping. It only has 102k miles on the car total. Cream puff garage queen.

You suck. Mine rusted in half. Took 20 years, but in the end, I threw it away. (Sold the motor though - 2.3L with 48IDA Webers)

I have a low-mileage Guards Red '82 911SC. Man what a car. Not a lot of horsepower, especially compared to what's available today, but you know you're driving a car, and not separated from the road by power-this and power-that. Driving that car is an experience.

I miss my 914, too.
It was a 74, with a 2.0 running Weber 40's, Koni coil-overs.... What a fantastic car that was to drive. Not a drag racer, but telepathic handling and a great sound. I sold it on my path to my 911. Should have kept it.
