[quote=dlearl476]I ran my 968 off I-15 in about 2" snow once. Luckily, we stopped as soon as I hit the shoulder and, even luckier, were were only about 3 miles south of Cedar City. Bad News? It took about 2 hours (and a lot of planning) to make it out of the frozen parking lot in the morning.

Ironically, we were on our way to Orem to pick up our ML320. Haven't driven either Porsche in inclement weather since. (Although every year I'm tempted to mount a skinny-assed set of studded snows on the OEM Fuchs and take the 911 on a "Mini Monte Carlo Rally" though southern Utah.)

Put a set of Blizzaks on it and have fun!

Make sure it has a warranty as long as you have it.

Don't feel bad. Like most warranties the fine print pretty
much makes them useless.

The only wife guarantee is there is no guarantee implied
expressed or other wise stated. As is where as and totally
owner responsible for ALL maintenance.

Don't even get into trade-in costs.

Talked with a few owners. The consensus is that there is some small issues the first couple of years. These are generally worked through under warranty, especially if you have a good dealer. Stay on top of the service schedule, and they become quite a nice rig. Typical euro car stuff.

Not really small problems...

The main complaint is the coolant pipe failures in some of the models. It can cause catastrophic engine damage and there have been problems getting Porsche to cover the repairs on cars with extended/CPO warranties. I would not consider a car that has not been upgraded to the new designed pipes.

There have also been a large number of problems with the transmission control modules.

What ever you do, get a Good PPI done. Make sure it is under warranty and has proof of maintenance. They are nice cars and as fast as you would ever want to go in a SUV.

That sounds like the perfect car for my wife. She is used to driving with screaming children in the back seat, and tries to drive faster than the speed of sound so she won't have to hear the ruckus. Hasn't worked yet though. She can pretty much smoke anything on 4 wheels; drives like she stole it.
She wants a new one, so I'm guessing the coolant pipe problem has been worked out on those.

Its seems like most of the problems have been worked out on the newer models. I still would sell or trade it in before I ran out of warranty though. These cars a very complicated and repairs can get very expensive. That being said they are very nice to drive. I hope she enjoys it, post pics when you get it.
