That looks an awful lot like Gary Sassi's President Speedster.

Finest home-grown restoration I've ever laid eyes on.

Tinks I've seen it to, I think its a Fiero kit car, never stopped to eye ball it though. It looks short for a Countach and not really wide enough.

There was a body shop in Sherwood, when I was in H/S he had a pair of Countach's sitting there.

A fiero kit car would make more sense in that neck of the woods. I guess I can give it the ol' ADV salute instead of a wave now, huh?

My dad has 3 1960 Cadillac Coupes with less than 20K on the clock sitting in his barn. 2 white, one black. Last time one was drove? My 1984 High school graduation.

Also has a 1969 Electra 225 (4 door ) that was bought on my 3rd birthday, with less than 70K. An 80 buick LeSaber convertible with 40K, a 74 Buick Riveara with a 455 Stage 1 (non GS ) with less that 80K. He has a 1992 24 Ft. Bayliner (cheap) open bow, that has been in the water twice, and a really cool 1956 Oliver Super 55 Diesel (I guess the diesel version is rare.)

My favorite on is (was?) in St Genivieve, MO. Haven't been by there in a few years.

His yard is filled with (what WAS) good stuff. He had VERY good taste.
Can't hardly walk between the cars. Trees growing around & through them. FAMOUS for NEVER selling ANYTHING.
Anyway, a local Car Guy talks to him, on & off for years ,trying to get him to sell a certain car. Just that one. For whatever reason, he was not as big a dick to this guy as he had been to everyone else who ever approched him.

One magic day, he agrees to sell that one car! With one big condition.
"If no other car can be disturbed, and no tree trimmed or cut down."

No way to swing a crane boom in. He thought about disassembly/reassembly, but he wanted to do it slowly & carefully in his shop. Ended up getting a helicopter to lift it out of the yard and onto a flatbed on the street. Total cost of car & helicopter was nuts, but by then, all he cared about was being "the guy who finally nailed the Town Virgin".

No no no...you string him along like a head cheerleader on prom night. A buddy of mine chased after a pan head for a long time until I finally got it through his noggin that the guy had no intention of selling, he just liked having someone want something he had.

There is a local rider I know. Old school beatnik biker machinist. He sort of lives like Von Dutch in his final days...sleeping in a garage with his cool old bikes. Cantankerous old fart, always a pleasure to talk to. He doesnt have any family and he is in his waning days. The vultures are circling his collection. Kind of sad, really. Even a local trust fund kiddy grey market "importer" douchebag is working him. But the old dude is cagey and street-wise and I doubt he much cares what happens with his stuff once he finally siezes his motor for the last time. So who is "working" who is kind of hard to tell.

Which sort of brings up a melancholy thought. None of the next generation in my family are showing much of an inclination toward the "dirtier arts" of bike riding and fixing. So I may well end up being the old fart with a bunch of junk just waiting for a neighborhood kid with an appreciation for filthy old junk.

There was a 1970 Ranchero sitting in our local town since I moved here in '95. Black with that ugly fake wood side that was peeling off. But it had a shaker hood.

I stopped and looked, by golly a real live 429 Cobra Jet shaker hood Ranchero. All original down to every part. Faded and a little rust, but straight. Later I look up the model as a Squire with the big Cobra Jet. One of VERY few it was.

I sniff around and get to the owner. Old time gear head hippy guy on an oxygen producing machine. Said Yeah, a few guys have asked about it. I threw in that I'd built some Fords including a 460 Fairlane, and I'd like to buy this thing and go through it. We had a great chat. Stopped and saw him several times over a couple years, would shoot the shit with him about old days turning wrenches. He couldn't even hardly go outside, and I told him shit we can get that thing fired up and I'll take you for a spin, the whole works, and he thought that was pretty neat. I always made sure he had my number, I live 3 miles from him, and told him to call if he wanted or needed anything. He knew his days were running short. I tried pretty hard not to be a vulture and the guy was pretty cool and we did have several hours of fun conversations, which I think he really appreciated.

One day the Ranchero was gone. His apartment was empty.

Not exactly a barn find, but the last remaining AMC dealership is in Pikeville, NC. The lot still has quite a few of the dealers inventory, unsold since AMC closed shop.
