Progress

Did a bit of work yesterday and Wato came over so we got busy.

This is the little linkage that nearly cost me $500, see screwdriver tip.
There sure are a lot of moving parts in these old Carbies

Lifted the engine out of the frame after removing the sump, its a pretty straight forward job.

This will make the fitting of the top end much easier but will make it easier allow for the sub frame mods to be carried out.

When I look at the engine out of the frame I felt like splitting the cases, but then I thought of the $$$ :)

One of the the things I battle with is not to get too carried away with the build, I said earlier I wanted it to be a scrapheap bike and not a 'Nice' bike. However I think it will look okay with all the old bling, especially the back end :)

If you've cut up a white knight TE 510 to make "Skunkzilla", then Pezz... you're off my X-mas card list!!! Sacrellidge! Those things were a (okay... a bit tempremental) work of ART! Restore the Husky!

Ahhh... I see! I thought you were gonna' cut up the chesty blonde for the bits... but you got them from the e-bay morgue I now see, Dr Pezzenstein... I guess that's kosher then!

How you going to do the final drive? (Husky chain on right... Honda on left?)... If the WR Husky swing arm is symetrical, it should be okay (just weld som lugs on other side for chain guide and buffer blocks?).

You're still on the x-mas card list... you maniac!

Troy,

I wont know until it arrives and I can have a good look. It appears symetrical, if not I maybe able to turn it up side down. Nothing is locked in concrete, lets just say its a fluid build. yep lugs will have to be welded everywhere. I may run up a nylon chain slipper roller.

Im not sleeping well at the moment, thinking about this build and staying awake all night, its constantly evolving, I may run out of time but hoping not!

The new carbies will arrive this week, the chassis is waiting for the swingarm & shockies to arrive, the front end I have sorted, then it was thinking about what headlight to run ??

The Stock 400 headlight is there and it might be easy to stick with that, but I do like the twin light setup, not that I intend to ride at night.

Plan B is the XL250R, I know where there is a XR650 motor and Im sure I could make it fit

Well ducked Pezz, if Troy knew that you'd given me the rest of the bike to use to drive a water pump i think he'd have freaked out. The old Ebay excuse always keeps the purists happy.......

Pezz, the bike will outrun the standard headlight at anything more than 60kph. They weren't real bloody good! The headlight was the bane of my life when I had a 400 four. The rest was real sweet.

Better than the light on my 450 Ducati, though . 6v, 25W and no battery to run the whole electrical system. What were they thinking????
