Skunkworx does it again..........

What can I say mate, another fine looking machine to come out of that cavernous workshop of yours. I truly hope it goes as good as it looks. That's one awesome bit of kit. You certainly seem to be getting support from all the right places and deservedly so, it's a bloody good cause. I will have to find myself a little project for next years bash to the Corner, as I am gutted not being able to make the inaugural run. Good luck.

Its been a long couple of days.

Buttoning the engine finally back together, connecting the cables, electrics, will spend tomorrow with a general tidy up and electricals. And some painting of brackets and front guard.

It comes off the bench and I will finally get to sit on the bike and see if I can fit on it. Padded up the seat, which looks ugly but easier than lowering the pegs.

Only need 1 blinker lense and its complete.

No pics tonight Sorry

Hook in Pezz!

Cheers

The RZ250 was looking like a tempting option today . . . . . my punishment

Got the bike off the bench for a test sit, my first. It is a snug fit and I have about a 10 dgeree turning arc, bit like an old Ducati but worse. The forks foul on the tank. Not to mention the horror when I drain the stale fuel from the tank to find it absolutely crusty with rust

What to do???

Well load up the bike and head out to Metropolitan Spare Londonderry office and go through the old tank bins, he so much old stuff out there but nothing was a simple fix and would require the complete redesign of the really ugly seat.

I picked up a cdi for the RZ so it would be able to run. agian as a back up.

I would have tried 15 tanks. the CX500 has potential but again too much work to mount it and a seat.

Steve had an old CB400 tank that had the paint stripped but never painted. It was really rusty on the outside and bog in various dints, but inside sweet So after a good offer from Steve I put the old rusty tank in the back of the Disco and headed to Chivo's to have the tryes & chain fitted.

When you say what you are building over the phone people dont take it seriously, but while there, a number of customers were taking second glances. The tyres look great and I headed home, without the exhaust being repaired. Chivo''s werent doing the exhaust but I ran out of daylight

So at the Skunkworks tomorrow . . .

Put the 2nd tank on the bike, turn the bars to full lock, mark with a pen inside and outside the forks, then get the steel dolly and belt it into the tank. about an inch or more. see how it works then.

Get the exhaust repaired, and try and start the little sucker.

I must say I hate the end time rush but I intend to be on this bike on Thursday morning, running it in on the way to Cobar

PS: agian no pics as I have my butt hanging out getting the bike sorted. It looks great too

It all came to a screeching Halt!!!!!

Well I am shattered!!

It was at 9.38pm tonight the attempt to ride the XR460Four to the Scrapheap Adventure Ride failed.

I had just completed the bike and was trying to start it when it got a bit 'tight' and the wiring started to melt. I have run out of time to diagnose and fix it so I am riding the R80G/S to Wanaaring.

I will now be able to go back and sort a few other things out like new tripple trees with more offset, bit of suspension work and a paint job.

Here are a few pics when I called it quits

I will get back to it after the Scrapheap ride.
