Looking great Pezz, I am also looking forward to seeing this bike.
OldDog, this is the bike that inspired me to build sagy. I think everyone should build a project thats compleatly nuts at least once.

The Jolly tank has two holes for the taps, but the one on the right (in the pic below) looks like the guy used a very blunt chainsaw to make the hole. I have cleaned it up with a file and have been using a tapered temp sender from a mini moke with thread tape and carefully screwing it in so as to not open up the hairline cracks above and below. I has a minute hole/split and will not seal up and drips out a steady flow ![]() I will need make up an alloy disc and insert an o-ring and a locating shoulder to seal using a bolt through from the tank and see what gives from there.

Well if you have seen the Scrapheap thread you would have noticed Yajyuu didnt get far, running like a peach, fuel tank leaking like a siv
I had a bit of fun with an old 620LC4 rear guard to make a 'Rallye' fairing, Ice cream container hand protectors, but the Malcolm Smith Desert Tank split near the top tank mount and covered the high tension leads so no road trip ensued ![]() I will be talking to a mate who builds alloy fuel tanks and sending him a nice chunk of cabbage for a new tank. It will be sorted, really it will. ![]() Finished here, not 20 feet later

Once the engine is in the frame I can start on the back end. Also still need to check with the po-po and licensing people about whether I can actually get it on the road (legally). |

I reckon thats a bloody good idea mate, it should handle that extra weight a little bette than the XR250 ones which seem to be a bit spindley even on the 250
![]() Dya have the 650 brakes as well? By the way......work has commenced on the new scrapheap, i couldn't help myself

Well my 2012 Scrapheap (Re-build) preparations start today.
Since the latest, and very public, unsuccessful launch, I have been contemplating my navel flint and options to move ahead. Looks like it may be better to take 2 steps back and then on forward. I will scrap the Plastic tank! Relocate the coils to the original spot under the ntank, the get the second steel tank I have and take the whole bike to a tinsmith I have heard about via Glen Maisey, in Inverell. After talking to Jock, I will get the steel tank modified with recesses for the forks and make it a bit bigger, about 20 litres. I have to head up that way in a few weeks so, it will be done sooner rather than later. ![]() I am also about to start a DRZ400 rebuild, so look for another thread soon

If you rode the bike up this way Pezz I'd make a tank for you and it would be a made from ally not that nasty rusty steel stuff.
You should come up here with the family and while your sunning yourself on the beach I would be happy to donate some time and materials to such a great cause |

Like I said book a holiday up here with your family drop your bike off for a couple of days and it'll have a new tank when you pick it up. (It would obviously only be a water tank but if you decided to put petrol in it I couldn't stop you) |
