I take so many pictures of trains that I would be hard-pressed to say exactly where, but I'm pretty sure it's along Highway 30 in Nebraska, probably the eastern third of the state.


The highway/tree picture is west of Sterling on Highway 14. I have a picture of it from 25 years ago somewhere, too.

First town west of Grand Island on hwy30, where the tracks cross hwy 30 to go out to the old Ammo Plant.....

Here is the satellite image of that location. The physical layout in the picture is congruent to this location. But I usually take pictures at grade crossings. We won't know for sure until someone makes a reconnaissance.






Whoops! A little further to the east, there is a grade crossing.

Open Road in South Eastern Montana hwy 212 headed to Broadus, MT..

THe KLR is not really a POS, he just calls it that once in awhile..The bike actually lead the way for most of the 10,000 mile trip..

It's the same bridge that FifthCircle photoshopped his bike onto!

I think it's the Brewer Bridge south of Sparks, NE on the Niobrara River. It was originally built in 1898 but not at this location.

This thread is making me wish I had a decent camera. I was born and raised in the American plains and these photos do a great job showing just how peaceful and lonely these areas can be.

Some pictures from central North Dakota near the farm I grew up on:
