Nebraska riding

I'm rolling along and heard this loud whistle. Just in time I skipped over and parked the bike by the rails and got into position to snap off this quick shot. Small engine, large engine.
This is a great thread because I so love this State, Nebraska, and think folks just don't appreciate the Plains period. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong, which seems to be the case here.
Consider my check in the mail.

Off the beaten path for a touring bike but lord knows I didn't it was going to be that way. So onward I plunged, and came across the nicest lady in this grocery store that was just a wee bit off the beaten path! 30 minutes of conversation and off I was again to find the rest of Nebraska.
Two things I'm coming to find is that if you compare maps from 75 years ago, small towns are dying and farms have the same last name.

Awesome pictures! Keep it up, folks. I can't wait to take another follow-the-rails tour of Nebraska.

we've got loads of great scenery over here but not much "big sky country", this is my best effort so far, although my bike is hiding from the winter salt in my dad's garage at the moment.
On the way to Coldingham (I think)

On the drive back from family Christmas today, I detoured through the Smoky Hill Wind Farm which lies north of I-70, near Ellsworth. Anyone that's traveled I-70 through Kansas in the last few years ought to be familiar with this wind farm - it lies right up along the Interstate.

There are some great minimum maintenance roads in this area and I hope to get back in the area this coming spring/summer.
