I Grip & Bite… draft 1.

Comment elsewhere by LS: Last night I dreamt about insects that looked like fuzzy starfish. They were red, moved quite fast and bit people. And they were almost impossible to remove, having five grippy starfish legs.

Comment in reply by me: Titled 'I Grip & Bite' from the beasts perspective? Give be* a short while...

*Me, give me a short while... G'Ah!?!

********

I Grip & Bite…

Skittering round the well-stacked shelves filled with surplus items variously piled there down in the storage room of your office, I keenly anticipate your imminent arrival, and as you appear, so then I will pounce. I will grip you below your chin, on the flank of your upturned neck. And no you can’t pry me away, for you will not lever me aside because you now embrace our fearless continuity, were we are at once now one, conjoined, and we feast upon one another. It's now passed beyond you wanting me to seize upon you, you knew I was here waiting but you still came within reach, you need me to grip you, and to bite. Coming here has become your choice, and once you freely took it I in turn felt free to spring upon you, you are there to be seized by me.

Upon your neck I nibble towards a bite, tentacled mouthpiece sensually sweeping you at first, calling out gasps from your mouth. I don’t bite into you for I am benign, I do not ask to cut you, that’s not why we are here. I won’t be breaking your skin, I won’t be piercing your flesh to drain any fluids, and there is no pain. Just the edge of pain, as is your desire & delight. I won’t be biting into you for I do not feed upon you. More that you feed upon me and volunteer me your essence with a wilful gladness. And so as your tautness mounts I am fed by your rapture, and as you crest within yourself I little by little relax my grip to hold you suspended in this moment, to then slip sated into the fold of your languid arm.

As I free-wheel in the echo of your enchantment I hesitate a while & recollect that I did not used to be able to spell the word tomorrow, until you taught me how, and that must in itself signify something? So… tomorrow?

Elsewhere I was asked 'Are you sure' regarding the above title, and the answer is yes.

This is not negative, simply realistic.

First of all the array of specialist parts & high value retail additions is beyond my reach financially. E.g. last time I saw a set of Krauser heads they went for something like £1,300, and lets not guesstimate the cost of the carbs, which look as though they may be R90S standard units? The frame looks standardish in this particular pic, but to fabricate the longitudinal bracing would be beyond me, and I’ve not seen such a configuration retailed anywhere, even if I could afford them. It’s one of the late type mono frame as opposed to the twinshock frame I have, and while I can’t see the rear shock in this pic I’m guessing it’s an aftermarket part rather than one of the old originals? Again, this produces expenditure.

The forks look standard enough, and the top yolk looks like it may be the standard thin plate one, or a K series one, or a fabricated billet one, but I’m guessing there are progressive springs installed in the legs, and I think I can see the towers of air-caps fitted? I’ve no idea where the brake callipers are from, or the disks, though they may be 4 pot K1100 style units with some variation of K series floating disks that match the standard looking late type R series front wheel. The wheels are the pattern I prefer, as while I’d be happy to run spoked wheels I really dislike the earlier star wheels, and those fitted have probably been coated in some way? The fact that the rear is drum braked rather that disked also suits my preference as I’m fond of neither the look or efficacy of the rear disk option.

Not sure where the small front fairing is from, but I’d say that getting something to fir that pleasantly is generally achieved by having access to a pile of bits and going thru/ough a process of ‘Offering Up’ the various options until you find something that sits right, and then devising and fabricating the bracketry. A similar process has perhaps been carried out with the front mudfenderguard which looks svelte & clean of line, and while I can’t specifically see anything I’m guessing that there’s some kind of slider-top fork bracing going on. Maybe it’s a K series front end inserted all in with bracing in the original form?

The clocks look neat, and no doubt cost money, and while I can’t see how multi-adjustable the Clip On handlebars are they certainly help produce a unified look to the front end. The oil cooler looks like a non-standard item, again costing cash money unless you happen to have a spare one sitting around, but then I don’t, not least because a great pile of R & K series spares got binned along with tools & manuals etc. in the great Shedquarters clearance of a couple of years back. I can’t speculate as to the form of the oil cooler feed unit. It may be one of the simple in/out plates which I have fitted to the DMW, or maybe a thermostat version fitted to braided hoses?

Moving backwards I’m guessing the battery is that lump where the airbox would normally sit, and it looks small, potentially a gel type, and therefore not the cheapest option. The engine looks like it uses the standard mounting points on the frame, though it’s not impossible that they have been moved forward slightly, tho/ough not up into or above the lower frame rails. Looking down I note there seems to be a sump deepening ring of some sort? I particularly like the run of the exhaust pipe, which doesn’t match any standard fitments I can call to mind so it may well be custom fabricated? Either way it’s got a lovely line & meets with the mufflerendsilencercan really nicely. The mufflerendsilencercan is of unknown origin, but is scaled to really fir the overall dimensions of the machine, and meets with both the exhaust pipe outlet & the mufflerendsilencercan mounting point really nicely, and the overall length of the exhaust system looks like it might well be tuned to the resonant scavenging pulse frequency of the engine to give a nice torque curve & strong peak power at high revs?

The rearset footpegs look proprietary rather than home fabricated though I don’t recognise them as any I am familiar with so may be part of a short run production by someone like Boxerworks or similar. Or maybe they are Disco Valante, either way they’re not the cheap as chips RAASKs I have fitted. Position looks good, slightly further back than mine but about the same height, but without the extra peg width the RAASK mounting plates produce.

Finally, I’ve not a clue what the peterolgaz tank is from, and while it’s apparent capacity would be more suitable for a race bike than a road one, I think it sits really nicely within the overall aesthetic of the bike, and its selection has probably benefited from the aforementioned ‘Offering Up’ process. And while the rear subframe looks like a standard unit that’s been cut down, I don’t recall having seen the seat unit anywhere else before, and to my eye it also fits really nicely with the overall lines the builder has laid out.

So there are a range of parts I couldn’t source or afford. And a level of finish that is beyond my skill level, but when it really comes to it I think the biggest thing, to my eye, is that the overall lines of the bike & selected modifications are really well integrated & thought thru/ough, and at the end of the day I just don’t have that intuitive sense/feel of form and style that the builder of this bike seems to me to have. So, when all is said and done, I think that it’s realistic to say that such a machine is beyond my capability to build.

I am confident tho/ough that I could execute the scrappy breather catch bottle behind the gearbox

They sound not unlike The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip which is a brilliant children's book (they attach themselves to goats though).

Ooh Er. Is it innuendo laden tripe like mine though?, because if it were that would mean that it's a sort of distorted 'Congress of the Goat' scenario, by which I feel somewhat discomforted

I'm around halfway thru/ough archiving off this thread for some as yet undefined process or outcome, and it's quite laborious as a number of the pictorial references are removed (see above) or obsolete, and when a youtube video has been embedded it doesn't show up in the grab, which is why I tend to include the video page link when I embed a clip, and I'd be grateful if y'all would too. The grabbing & editing is heavy going and serves no real function, but still as they say, onwards & sideways...

Can anyone tell me if you have a vid above or just the blankness I have?

Able to view contents: In the first 1:17 it appears an Italian footballer has taken up vintage bike racing.

Thanks, as you may recall it's a sub-dialup speed connection at this end, and some forms of items (e.g. flash movies) don't show up once I've exceeded my monthly allowance.

The query arises because I've got as afar as post 2550 in the file STD1 Grab 2013 NEW 2001 to 3000.doc with the process of editing the grab of the thread. Today has been mostly about right clicking on you tube embeds within the thread and copying & pasting the URL below the vid embed because the embeds dont show up in the doc.

I'm producing A3 paginated documents per 1000 posts, and tasks include scaling down some of the still images to preserve the thread column format, the aforementioned vid URL substitution, and stuff. Other stuff. Posts 1 to 3000 are pulled, and dumped into word docs so far totalling 191MB, and I can't say I know what I'm going to do with it, but I'm doing it anyway...

Like Lornce, I have the vid....but, I also have the blankness just like you. Is
there any chance of a cure, or are we lost in the haze for all time? Eh? EH??
