Vin,

I'm a bit late to this RR, but find it awe inspiring. What an epic adventure.

Regarding the Bolivia Video you posted, I recognized the first song, but not the second and third. Whatever it is, I would like to get it.

Thanks,
Walt

Vin,

Never mind, my 17yr old son pulled out his i-Touch with a song recognition APP and found it straight away. Morcheeba, Good stuff.

Thanks for sharing and please keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I am still alive and still riding, although I have been a bad blogger lately.

I am in São Paulo and just finished up a huge service on the bike. I have been beating the the hell out of the big girl for a while, and it was time for some TLC so I basically freshened up everything in the last week or so. It feels good to have a fresh bike.

I will work on a little update in the coming days. There is not a whole lot to report, but I think its about to get interesting as I head north in Brazil.

I'll post some pics with the update. I did a lot of stuff including suspension service.

I drained the fuel tanks and they were of course filthy. I put some good gas (Petrobras Podium) and it runs fine again. I got a bad batch of gas not long after entering Brasil and finally flushed it out. the stuff they call Comun is worse than the gas in Bolivia IMO, as the KTM always ran fine on Bolivian fuel.

The 690 has opened a world of riding to me the bigger bikes were incapable of reaching comfortably. Boulders the size of toddlers? Bring it on. Stream crossings? Call me drenched. Dried river beds, downed trees... I'm in. Sand? I still have to get to some sand on it, which is why I'm thread surfing today and plotting and scheming.
Very telling that during our last filming outing on the Multistrada and GSA, I kept wanting my bike rather than the press loaners.
Hi Vinny!

I just picked up a 2007 KTM 690 SM this weekend. Wicked fun. There really isn't any dirt riding to speak off nearby so I figured I would go this route for now. Happy trails!

I got a bad batch. I made the mistake of buying gas in the sticks, and folks have told me that some of these guys out in the boonies mix the comun with as much as 70 percent alcohol.

Damn! Yeah, that wouldn't be good for any bike, but I heard they just released the first bike in Brazil that can run on their E100.
