oh here goes the trend with most every honda thread...
eventually it leads to why the current state of honda NA is clueless and they suck.

If it is, OK. I still think the NT700 seems pretty cool.

Re-reading what I last wrote, it does start to wander down bitchfest lane a bit, and I have a theory. Many of us grew up with Hondas and I think sometimes we take it personally when they won't live up to their potential -or- just won't give us what we want. I, for one, tend to romanticize the Soichiro era a bit as well and therefore blame the corporate, homogenized mindset of AmHonda on his being long gone.

Not confirmed either way. There is supposed to be more models coming later this year. What they are is unknown at this time.

Question

Is there a new street bike in the U.S. with ABS for a lower MSRP than $10,999?

Honda Canada has adopted the BMW sales model. They have revoked all Honda concessions from all dealers and now sell Honda "Powersports" in Honda car dealerships. There are only 2 stand alone Honda Powersports dealerships in Canada that sell all Honda products: bikes, jet ski boats, quads, generators, lawn mowers, snow blowers, and pumps.

This might be the future for Honda USA.

Sadly for motorcycle enthusiasts, in the United States, Honda is all about selling automobiles and SUVs. Its motorcycle business is being treated as a red-headed stepchild. I can not understand why Honda keeps the good stuff out of America. The only explanation is that they no longer care about the motorcycle business in the U.S.

I've had my share of Honda motorcycles and cars and I liked every one of them - on the motorcycle side, XR70, XR100, Hawk, Transalp and Shadow. Cars - one Civic and two Accords. They've all been excellent vehicles. I like Hondas and used to admire the company tremendously, although my admiration has waned as they have abandoned the U.S. motorcycle market and gone mainstream with their cars.

I can't help but think this bike would be pretty awesome with the Superhawk/Veradero motor. Maybe better forks, still shaft drive and still 560 lbs.

We always want what we can't have......

Isn't that motor one of the all-time gas hog champions?
FWIW, to me it looks like Honda might have actually done something right with this bike, for a change.

The VFR1200X, a V4 replacement for the Vara, is apparently scheduled for 2011.

I'm actually thinking about one, wouldn't mind if it had a little more power though.
