We are thinking we want to go back early next year.

TheMule......how early do you think we could reasonably get back there after the worst of the snow and mud has gone? April?

We want to camp a little further down the road and thus have a bit shorter drive to some of those "way down there" places we couldn't quite make this trip. And we want to make Karen happy so she'll come visit us again. Maybe she'll even drag you along? Or maybe you will be off work fora few days and and join us!

Much of that country will open up pretty early in the spring (with the exceptions of Blackrock Mnt. and Mounts Logan and Trumbull). If you want PM me this spring and I can check on conditions and let you know when things are a go. Likely anytime after mid-March and you'll be find except, perhaps, for the temperatures. It can still be pretty chilly out there at that time of the year. Karen'll be headed to southern AZ in a week and likely won't be back anytime in the forseeable future....Sorry.......

There's certainly a chance I could make it for a day or two.

.....and I think if we made basecamp near Diamond Butte, even bikes like our 650s could make runs to Toroweep, Whitmore, Kelly Point and Twin Point with little more than a one-gallon gas can strapped on the back.

The problem is we would be nowhere near town, so we'd need to pack a LOT of fuel out there or make a few trips into town. And it's probably WAY too far out there to even consider taking a land yacht.

Can you buy gas at Bar 10?

Nope. Bar 10 is just a tiny dude ranch and an airstrip. No real facilities.

I heard a rumor that they sometimes help out "lost" folks.......I'd bet they have a website, it's a very nice airstrip, might try to set something up with them. I'll bet they ask a bit more for petrol in that location vs St George.............

Re-edit........I'll bet they'd fly in the Cayman for the right fee...............
