Riders?

Anyone up for some single track or DS ride this weekend? That's if we don't melt...

Rode to Vernal, via Hay Canyon, today. Stopped at Bonanza on the way back. Yeah, very cool indeed.
Going to ride San Juan's starting tomorrow. If anyone wants to join in, give me a shout.

Quick Sunday jaunt

Bolted on my new Wolfman racks this morning and decided to go on a quick shakedown run to see if anything would rattle loose.

Took some old tracks below Calamity Ridge.

This road used to be better.

There is a little bit of interesting rock on the way.

Calamity offer some good views

Saw some real horsepower on the way down.

Getting hotter than blazes again. Think I'll head out on the boat.

Just got home from Silverton. Thanks Bill for dropping off the goods.
Fried my clutch up there, so I'll be out of the game for a bit.
Jetting sucked big gorilla ass.

Little Ride in the NW Corner

Had a couple hours this after noon so I headed out. Needed to do a shakedown with the new racks and bags, THANKS DUSTY!
Went North to Bears Ears.

Headed east to Wolf Mtn.

Soon after this pic, I had to see how strong those racks were so I took a little nap in the dirt.
sorry no pics..
Stopped in the shade for some lunch

Headed down towards US 40. This is huge mud slide that happened in the spring of 2011.

Then down to the old Mt Harris town site for a drink of water. The building on the other side of the river is one of the air vents for the old mine.

Hard to believe it once looked like this.

January of 1942 a methane pocket ignited, killing all but 4 on the night shift at the Victor American Mine

Harrison Ward was my grandmothers father, her husband, my grandfather was on the day shift. He went in on the mine rescue, he was only able to ID his father-in-law by his brass tag. He quit the mines and started working for Texaco Oil, as a ditch digger, retired as head of drilling for Wyoming, North Dakota and Montana. The last non college educated drilling engineer Texaco had.
After that trip down memory lane it was off to home to get some ice on my sore wrist from my nap...

Looks like I get to take a short ride tomorrow morning, probably explore some singletrack in the north Uncompahgre. I ride by myself a lot, but would welcome anybody to come along.

Thanks for the invite! I'll see what I can do, but that's a lot of slab on a uncomfortable KTM seat.

I'm trying to set up a facebook page for an old men's motorcycle club in Grand Junction.

http://www.facebook.com/Motorcycle-Trail-Riding-Association/406896456013433

I think it will help if any of you can go to the page and like it.

Thanks, Greg, for already doing so.

Most of the members are in their 60s, but they know and interact with the right land managers and do a lot to keep trails open in this area.

No problem Walt, I'm always willing to support and help when it involves land use and keeping our trails open! Looking forward to seeing what comes of it.

So anyone riding this weekend? Temps are supposed to be in the low 90's... sounds like a good time to get out to higher elevations, Glade Park or the Bookcliffs? My schedule is kind of up in the air and my seat is currently at an upholstery shop... supposed to be done later today.

I just want to get back out on the KTM 690...
