Thanks WW,

I feel much better now

It's interesting that you can actually find used machines in the magazines overseas. I've been reading "BIKE" from the UK for the past few years and, although they have a strong street-racer bias, they will actually test and evaluate bikes that are less than brand new......something our press should copy.

WW, if you can actually register these bikes (particularly in California) you might just be able to turn a decent profit selling them to the 10 or 15 of us here that are lusting after them. Probably more trouble than it's worth to you but it seems that once you've got that plate the DMV will leave you alone and just renew registration without a hassle......It's getting the plate in the first place that can be a problem.

Anyways.....still a very nice bike. Enjoy

Where can I get SS spokes for an RD07?

Carlos, if you have a sample, you can send it to Woody's Wheel Works or Buchanan's for a match up.

Spokes

I'm flirting with an RD07, but the spokes need to be replaced, so I need an aproximate cost for the spokes and the work. I want to make an offer that can't be refused...I don't know why but I'm in love with AT's and this is the second time I have a chance to acquire one...first one came right after I bought my TA.

Carlos,

Grab it man!!

Spokes are easy and the AT spokes are all "straight pull" spokes....no bends so sizing is easy.

You can even remove one spoke from each wheel and send them to Woodys or Buchannons for matching without hurting the wheel. (I wouldn't ride on it like that though.

Remember that spoke lengths may not be the same on the left and right sides due to differences in hub design and wheel "dish" or offset.

How's the poison ivy healing?
All most gone! But I did end up with some scars from the ordeal.

I was asked why I would want to run 520 chain setup?

This would be lighter chain and would open up other sprockets from different machines.

Thanks for the business advice :)
I'm sure I could make a little but, right now with the dollar and the hasstle of buying a bike unseen I think the margins would be slim. They are going for about 2-3K Euros back there for early to mid 90's models. Thats almost 5k in our money, throw in a grand for shipping, dmv bribes and your looking at a $6500 bike. Then you have to try and sell it for a profit when you can buy a modern KTM 950 for $8k, a way superior bike.

There's one on ebay for 5k. The guy imports them from Europe on a regular basis as his GF is German. He's an ok guy from the few conversations I've had with him. Pity it's so far away. Anybody want to buy me a plane ticket?
