Hi Africans!
Greetings from Latvia! My name is Martins and I'm a proud owner of RD03. Last autumn when I was adjusting valve clearance I removed restrictors from carb to cylinder pipes, now my africa is acting prety weird. I know I need to adjust my carbs for the unrestricted setup, but where I need to start an what's needed to be done. Maybe someone know jet numbers or other good info, please chime in.
And welcome to Latvia in your summer trips if in need of something let me know!!

Thanks for posting that up ......

In a related note ..... I have a Remus Revolution on my RD04, and I think the carb needs to be adjusted due to the issue I'm experiencing. Ladder106 chimed in on this, during our trip last July.

If I run her for long periods on time, down pavement, at high speed, then (let's say) come to an intersection I need to turn at, and start braking and down shifting, she sputters and dies. I hit the button, and she starts right back up, but will sputter a bit more.

If I come to a complete stop, twist the throttle a few times, she fires right back up and I'm good to go.

This "issue" only happens when I'm running her for extended periods of time at high speed, and only started happening after I put the Remus on. Ladder's thought is that the float bowls become completely empty, so when I start slowing down, etc, there's nothing there to keep the engine running.

Does anybody have any specific carb / jetting info related to having a Remus on the bike.

Storm ???????

G.

I want to put a KTM660 LC4 rear shock on RD07 . Would it fit? I'm worried about the weight difference of those two bikes! Any thoughts?
I've no idea about fit. That comes down to (a) eye-to-eye length (b) diameter of mouting hardware (c) type of mounts...most ATs need a forked lower mount rather than a central "eye" (d) overall diameter (some shocks have bladder tanks attached) not certain how much space there is around the airbox on your particular AT....and....(e) overall diameter where the shock passes through the suspension links.

As to weight....that's easily solvable with the spring. If your standarad AT spring will fit on the new shock, start there since you already know it's at least close to what you need for you and the bike.

Damping (valving) will be where the difference (and main cost) will arise. The chance that the valving will be correct for your bike is pretty unlikely given differences in rear suspension linkage ratios, the difference in bike weights etc. Getting the shock revalved is normally a bit pricey.

Consider all this and weigh it against just buying a bespoke shock for your bike.

Let us know how it goes.
