Just for info there is a AT going to auction at manheim in qld in the next couple of weeks.

Anyone who knows whose it was/is? and more importantly how did it get there?

For those, considering new handlebars! Magura X-Line AX2.

No good in my opinion... it lacks the upper reinforcement brace, above point "b" of your bottom picture...

Where to get front forks?

A friend needs the front forks for his 1990 Africa Twin! Anyone knows where to get them in US or Centralamerica?

Good luck finding a front end for an AT in N.A. I would start looking in europe.

A suggestion.

I have had new tubes made up by Frank's 847-475-1003 in Evanston, IL. Twice!

They did a good job when I needed them. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

Give them a call. Good luck.

I use Magura AX2 handlebar now for 2 years.
Tested on quite heavy offroad with my AT.
Besides many regular offroad falls on the side I had two heavy falls when the handlebar was hit directly at the edge.
I was very surprised it didn't bent or broke cause everything else was completely bent (footpegs, crash bars...)

Its one very very robust handlebar! Not comparable to original AT "pudding" handlebar.

Let me know if you need any pictures....

MAGURA MX 2 Fitting/Sitting/Standing

OK, I haven't found many pictures directly from my Magura AX2 handlebar but here is some action:

From AT veteran specialist Gerd I bought Magura MX model but since I am 196cm tall and I drive mostly in standing position it was not the best for me:

MX with extensions

Just later he suggested me AX2. Here can be seen on one of his Transkensteins. :) (HC Transalp)

And Here is fitted on my AT for the first time:

Some other angles and comparability:

And now most important in relaxed sitting position when driving in action:

And relaxed standing position:

Conclusion:
AX 2 handlebar and lower footpegs are "for now" my perfect combination.
Personally i think Magura are very strong build but nothing is unbreakable.

More details

I am amazed at the unmolested plastic on this bike. I have put about 100 miles on it and find that it is just what I have been looking for. I sold my dual sport XR600 because of a knee problem which interfered with starting. This thing is comfy and laid back. Starts right up, cold or hot.Temperature climbs up in traffic (but OK) and cools down on the highway. The only thing I need right now is a rear disc (already obtained) and some rubber covers for the footpegs.
