Mitas indeed: rear C-02 (120/90/18), front C-19 (90/90/21)

Fork is a KTM/WP, an older type. I believe from 1994. It was already adjusted with Reiger springs and fitted to an RD03 when I bought it. It fitted to my RD07 with a steering stem from Rugged Roads. Very nice handling offroad.

Cheers, Simon

Best for what?

I think it would depend on what type of riding you really do.

I see the RD03 as the most off-road capable with a real Dakar (Marathon class) history. The RD04 is very much like the RD03 only with a bit nicer (more protective) front fairing. The RD07 leans more strongly toward a road/touring bike.

So the RD03 can be thought of as an off-road bike with touring capabilities while the 07 at the other end of the spectrum (so to speak) can be thought of as a touring bike with off-road capabilities.

If you look at most manufacturers of dual-sport bikes you will see a general progression toward more of a pavement/touring emphasis as the model progresses through the years.

One can, of course, make modifications to push your particular model of AT toward whatever riding best suits your needs. I think this is why the bike remains so popular.

Squily, Nice trip! Looks like a lot of fun!

Overhere in the EU it starts to get cold, but im still going strong.
I drive About 100 Miles a day from and to work, as long as there is no snow i keep on riding the twin.

I envy the people who are driving in nice warm countries.

It's a little early to plan but I'll give it another shot. We should be good for another 30 years on wildfires. How does the end of July/early August timeframe sound?
