Man, I'd sure buy an AT if Honda would bring them over to the states and especially if they'd get updated a little bit, like the TA and Varadero have been in the last few years. I don't know why Honda is letting BMW and KTM clean up in this segment. I know the TA was a weak seller here, but geez, that was 1 or 2 seasons, 15 years ago.

What`s crap about an AT??

Without forking out bigger money on a GS an AT would be a choice for me. I know the bike a little but would like to know what typical snags they have and what is crap about them....from servicing and high wear parts prices to inherrent bulid quality problems....what gets changed and improved as soon as its bought....routine maintainence a problem to get at...chain and sprocket life good....high milers...what to look for second hand(one here for sale with about 175,000kms about 10yrs old, black plastics have taken a hit with the UV light)anyone help with any snippets of info please???....

the only snag is the fuel pump, that can be replaced with aftermarket good ones or even the ones used by Yamaha, other than that it´s a well proven bike

this is a 118000 mile report http://www.maximumbikes.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=3756

This is a nice little place just 20 minutes from my house. Just over that bridge is a bunch of little waterfalls. The kind of place a fella could go for a... good read... and a nice afternoon dump.

The first thing to go is usually the electric fuel pump, however it can be ressurected, but most people go for a vacuum pump when the electric one fails. The standard seat is famously uncomfortable, but an upholsterer can fix that for very little cash outlay. That's about it on the 'snag' side of things.

The bike comes with a good sump guard as standard, and you'll find that most adventurous owners will fit engine bars to protect the tank and plastics in a spill. Servicing is straight forward, the oil filter is easy to get to, and the engine has a reputation for reliability. I rarely have to adjust my chain between services, just keep replacing tyres and brake pads and ride it.

There are good online communities here and here.
