I met Northerntraveler in Hiawassee, GA the other day. Real nice guy.
I didn't get to ride with him but it sounds like he's making some real progress. We'll probably hear from him around the first of the month.
Scott, I hope you liked our area and wish you many more safe miles!

Just an update, we ain't been sleepin'.

The New Jersey track logs are complete, the ball is in my court to polish the file up some.

PA, we should be gettin' close to a verification run.

NY, just a pretty good rumor of filling in the "Black Hole".

MO, I have talked and traded info with a man that is willing to "Show Us". Get it? Sometimes I just crack myself up.

And the latest, just this morning I have reviewed a set of track logs running from the gulf coast of FL to within 20 miles of the TWVT. I guess the ball is in my court to finish that connector. Mike, Eric, wanna go for a ride?

Damn nice work guys, this is getting real.

Show you.

I'm looking to make some time to fill a black hole between Hawk's Nest and Winchester CT...we'll see, wish my 11 year old could drive, she'd stage the adventure van.

Good work man. This is a good project.

Sweet write up guys. This is much appreciated. Keep the informatino rolling. I'll be back East in NH in a few weeks for the summer and will be doing a lot of riding around New England. Let me know if anything up around the Upper Valley/Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee area needs any work.(There are some really nice rides around this area. I'll post some routes when I get back East.)

Cheers

Atlanta to Gulf Coast Section

Atlanta to Gulf Coast Section

I scouted out a dual sport route from Atlanta to Apalachicola a couple weeks ago. The link is to a google map. Tracks 2-5 have all the dirt roads I could connect to make the trip. I'd say maybe 50-60% unpaved. As of a few weeks ago this route is open and lots of fun. Track 1 is mostly slab out of town. I think it would make a lot of sense to go around Atlanta if this were to make it into TET. The route goes through logging areas in the north and as you get farther south it turns into sand, some of it deep.

Southern TET

This winter I routed a new route from the Gulf Coast of the panhandle of Florida up to the end of the Appalachian Trail.

Last month I went down and rode it, rerouting as needed for all kinds of reasons.

That section is from Carrabella FL, crosses the panhandle, then up the eastern edge of Alabama about 2/3 of the way. It then goes into NE Georgia wandering over to the end of the AT.

From there I worked with Rob123's AT route.... reworking as needed.... I managed to get all the way to Peterstown WV where my XRL died on me.

I pretty much cleaned that up and forwarded to IntoTheNew at the beginning of last week.

When he has time he is going to create a connector to tie it into the TWVT.... he has it started, but has to run it and add about 5 more miles. He wants to also clean up some of the waypoint labels... I included the campgrounds all along the way from a file I got somewhere else and the labels are really long.

Once the connector is done, he'll post it up here and add it to the collection.

Thanks alot to Brownie2 and the other folks along the way who helped me out.... especially IntoTheNew.

Right now it's about 1325 miles, and I rode over 3000 miles in 3 weeks laying it out.

So, the only thing we are short to having a Gulf coast to Canada route is the 'black hole'... central PA to central CT. I hoped to be able to get back out and knock that out this month, but it ain't happenin'.

So, the 'smooth' route is almost done.......

I haven't looked it over in detail, but I like what I see. I sent you a copy of the pre-release of TetS so you can see what is going on around you. We tie them together and call it the "Sand/Swamp Box"?

I should be able to run that connector tomorrow. It's basically 40 miles that parallels the New River, pretty nice stuff. I have old track logs of all but about 5 miles of it, just need to put it together in a fresh run.

I do have a nice run ready from New Castle VA to NW of Clifton Forge VA. I have a mean one heading NE out of Clifton Forge. I should have time this year to work the connector from Peterstown/Pearisburg to New Castle. I have some scattered track logs from over the years on NE in the GW Forest. We'll finish this AT thing, I promise.

I ran about 100 miles of the TetS and the Twvt connector Sunday. I need a few days to clean up the logs. Ride Report started here, it is a fantastic ride.
