I missed your point "that right there" - which right where is why you bought that instead of a spot?

That right there is why some folks don't understand American English.

Or That is a good example of direction/location being used to define a thought or sentence.

Eh?

I'm no CR fan but that took some serious stones to remount and pass 25 riders. Didja notice he almost did exactly the same thing on the very next lap? In the interview afterwards he was still visibly shaken and scared. Hats off!

990 adventure or f650gs dakar.... choices choices...... the KTM is heavier but has more suspension travel and ground clearance then the bmw. Seat height is a concern though and it might be "coming in for a landing" when I stop places. (I see lots of right turns in my future. )

Any constructive thoughts on either bike?

There are *very* few people who have purchased a KTM 950/990 Adventure and regretted it, nor in my opinion is there anything the F650 can do better than the adventure, on road or off.

F650 Dakar is a good bike, but really not even close to being in the same class.

Owned the F650 dakar for about a year, owned my 950 Adventure for about six.

Range is the one area the the BMW wins (not that there aren't fixes for the KTM). My wife's F650 gets about 75 mpg giving range of about 300 miles. My 950 gets about 35 mpg offroad which is good for maybe 200 miles. Of course I don't have any regrets.

Yup. I've had two 990's, a BMW G650X X-challenge and now my 950SE.

I loved the beemer - probably one of the smoothest singles I've ever owned with ridiculous gas mileage, super quality build, dependable, etc. But I truly missed the grin producing, beastly, rip-roaring power of the Katoom V-twin....just depends what ya want....I'm fortunate to have an almost 8 gal Safari tank on the 950, so range isnt really an issue. On the 990's, I always mounted a Rotopax with no issues to extend my range. You will get numerous feedback, both are great.

Dropped off a wheel at woodys wheel works on monday. Counter lady said it'd be done 'in a couple days'. Called yesterday morning (took three calls till someone picked up the phone) and the guy on the phone said the guy working on it was out, but it should be done and he'll call me when he gets back in. Waited all day, no call. Call this morning, got the guy working on the wheel, as it turns out my wheel hasnt even been started on, no penetrating oil on the nipples or anything (i was worried some of them could be jammed). I was under the impression they were a better run place than that, i dunno maybe it's just busy season.

Update: They just called and told me the wheel was done, only needed a couple spokes as it turns out. Pretty relieved it's done before the weekend :)
