Wish I could find a nice KDX200 around here... Or a WR250F, but leaning more towards a KDX. Where did they all go? Seems like all the good KDXs are on the east or west coast, nothing close by.

I have a 1984 KDX200 I could sell you. Air cooled, drum brakes front and rear - probably too vintage for you. Really nice bike. I really like it but don't have much time to ride it. It's currently in winter hibernation at my place in Crestone. I haven't ridden it since last summer

Blake, welcome home! Glad to hear you and the bike are safely in Colorado. That trip sounds like an "adventure"!

Anyone who looks at Blake's PhotoBucket page will think they accidentally navigated to a used motorcycle dealer's site.

It is fun to look at past bikes. I should start a past bikes page. But I do still have pictures spread around of most of them. Glad you made it back safe Blake.

Thank you but I'm looking for something in the late '90s early 2000s.. Those older KDXs are great though, my dad had one for a little while but his knees just couldn't take it anymore so he sold it.

The best part about Blake's style of ownership: He's never had to do an oil change.

A few of my trips have had an element of adventure to them

* First one when I moved to Denver was going to Omaha to buy a mint XR650R - driving thru the worst blizzard I've ever seen before or since.

* The farthest I've been was when the new Gold Wings came out - nobody local was dealing at all, but Schroader's Honda in Hendersonville, NC was.
Their price was $2500 off MSRP. After a few trips on the Blackbird, Jeanne asked if we could add a more comfortable bike to the garage. Uh...ok.
That trip home included a stretch of the BRP, I rode the Tail of the Dragon...then a double tornado touching down 1/4 mile from where I was pulled over under an overpass near WaKeeney, KS....and when I stopped in Oakley at the Mittens Travel Center, I ran into Snoop Dogg in the c-store. His tour bus was fueling up and waiting out the storm / tornado thing.

* When I sold my Guzzi V11 Rosso Mandello, I had a full price buyer if I'd haul the bike to them - in Rancho Palos Verdes (soCal coast).
On the way out I had a gall bladder attack and apparently could have achieved room temperature any time on the trip if it were to burst. (after it was removed when I got home it was found to be gangrenous and I dodged a bit of a bullet on that one)

* I traded the GL1800 for a 2003 R1150GS Adventure - rode the GL to Birmingham, AL, did the trade, saw the Barber Museum, rode the GS back.

* I drove to Columbia, MO and bought a new CBR1000RR and hauled it back in my truck to save $1700 off list.

* I traded an '00 KDX200 with a full Fredette motor for a DR650 - met the guy (San Antonio) halfway in Hobbs, NM

* I went to Detroit to buy a completely rebuilt, excellent condition, street legal '94 KTM 440 EXC.

* When I sold it I got more than my asking price for delivering it to the buyer in Birmingham, AL. Another trip to the Barber museum, and Jeanne joined me for this so we made a mini-vacation out of it and saw Graceland on the way back.

* I put 27k on my ZX-14 in less than 2 years, and when I got the itch for something different I found a new leftover '06 Roadliner in Corinth, Mississippi for $9995. Rode the ZX-14 to Corinth, the Roadliner back - via the Ozarks.

* I drove to Tulsa to pick up a very clean KTM LC4e for a killer price.

* A buddy from Vegas was flying to Detroit to buy an FJR, I rode out to meet him and we rode back - my FJR still had temp tags.

* I drove to Phoenix to get a very clean looking KTM 380 EXC (plated) for $1000, but it had cracked cases. I ended up getting $1600 out of it by parting it out - but what a PITA.

* Flew to Portland, OR to buy a 25,000 mile '81 CBX....rode it back 1400 miles home and decided it wasn't for me.

* I sold the CBX for cash and took an XR650R in on partial trade - met the guy in Green River, UT.

* Drove to Lehi, UT to buy an XR650R - one I built into a killer Baja sled, then sold quickly when I found a '79 CBX for sale and I needed to scrape together some mulah.
The CBX sold the same day the XR did

* When I traded the FJR in on the Guzzi 1200 Sport, I rode to Wooster, OH on the FJR and back on the Guzzi.

* I sold an XR650R I built to buy the CBX, and had a big offroad trip planned in southern NM. I found an '07 TE610 in San Antonio - picked it up and went directly to TorC for the ride with buddies who came from Houston, Portland, Reno.

* Went to Vegas to get the W650 last December

* And this one, flying to St. Louis to pick up the R100RS and ride south to try and miss the weather.

Photobucket switched from their old standard to the new beta....and now it's in place for good. It completely hosed the order all those pictures were in.

After living in Las Vegas for almost a decade, we have an appreciation for well done tacky schtick

We did a GTO road trip a few years ago to the Ozarks and HAD to see Branson to see if it measures up (). On this last trip I rambled thru Branson for old time's sake

We went to Graceland expecting a fairly substantial amount of that same thing - and outward appearances of the nearby motels and a Graceland H-D dealership sort of supported that.
But the tour itself is really well done and isn't tacky at all - I was pleasantly surprised how cool and reverent it actually was.

OK, I'm in awe.

Well done, Blake. One day, I aspire to have your motorcycle trading and road tripping lifestyle.

Marc,

Thanks for coming by!

Marc's highly trained airhead eyes spotted a few things it might have taken me a while to notice - a couple of missing nuts and bolts and an oil cooler line rubbing against a piece of fairing.

Gave it a good wash, need to find something good for cleaning aluminum wheels - those snowflakes are anything but clean.

S100 and I can never get my wheels really clean.

It was great to see the bike, I hope we can ride them together some time.

And YES, I am always good at spotting the Air Head.
