That was in Texas, might have been a californian passing through.

Weather looks promising for the weekend...finally.

Got a project at a good stopping point tomorrow, might be time to hop on the bike and head to the coast for some seafood (via the orange states ) and come back Monday.

Hypothetically speaking, if you were to make a run for the coast - what route would you take?

(NM/AZ) I hit snow in Flagstaff almost every time, but not usually enough to stop progress.

I'd do ABQ to Kingman, Barstow, and 58 from Barstow, B'field, and McKittrick to the coast.

A couple years ago I got done with a project in early March, took the ST1300 via US50 over a snowy Monarch Pass and out thru Four Corners, Kanab, Hurricane....

I've never been that way before (link). Is it scenic?

A few years ago, I did a ride to the east coast and back and there were horribly boring sections of interstate in the middle of the country. I'd love to do a ride to to the west coast but I don't want to ever repeat that monotonous experience.

How's the ride along the route you described?

it's all interstate until you get to Barstow, then 58 is two lane over Tehachapi Pass into Bakersfield. From Mojave to B'field is scenic.

It's mostly a tug just to get to the coast - but once you get to Buttonwillow (I-5 and 58 intersection), from McKittrick past the oil fields, hwy 58 rocks (map it) over to the coast.

If I had time I'd go up 1 to Monterey and cut across from Gilroy, Los Banos - over Pacheco and across the valley and head over the Sierras. They're not getting any snow this year, there might be good roads clear and passable.

Mostly I just want to get some seat time, and a blast to the coast on a long weekend sounds good despite the drone getting there.

That was the first idea that passed thru my puny brain - could be fun riding to southern NM for some food and scenery too.

another way to go (last time I went) is out 160 thru Four Corners, Kayenta, Kanab, Hurricane, Vegas - interstate for 150 miles to Barstow then back on two lane.
Could go over the hump to Pahrump, thru Death Valley, 178 from Ridgecrest to Lake Isabella - and then some great stuff from Wofford Heights thru Glenville and Woody - then across to the coast range.

Lots of options - and if you're up for a road trip, we can take it to PM's and discuss fun routes vs. drones.
Lots of good ways to go

Very nice isn't it. A bit different from Barber but well worth the detour off I70.
