My Madagascar (honemoon ride! lots of pics!)

Many people think that you should know(and test!) your wife before getting married to avoid unpleasant surprises afterward. I disagree! What best than a fantastic honeymoon to test your wife

So we set our trip on bikes to Madagascar. Shipping was to difficult and so renting was the choice. After some research we found http://madagascar-on-bike.com -, an easy going private company that rent Honda Transalp, lead by Manfred, a German man settled in Antananarivo (S18 49.222 E47 28.250).
The first two weeks will be on bike, trough the south of Madagascar for a total of over 2000 km on and off road ...the third to relax

Off we go heading south. Manfred mekes his last adjustment to our fireblades

Lunch half way to Antsirabe

Along the RN7 towards Antsirabe

Break somewhere (S19 34.757 E46 17.364) between Antsirabe and Mindrivazo on the R34.

Mindrivazo S19 31.506 E45 27.590

From here (S19 45.201 E45 29.938) 300 Km to reach Morondava...tamac is over for most of the trip!

At times bridge crossing can be tricky..you better find an alternative

Arrived in Morondava on the coast. Some nice time off bike at Chez Maggie (S20 17.883 E44 16.132)

Honda problems...

...but in Africa everything can be fixed

Morondava town

We couldn't miss the Avenue du Baobab (S20 15.073 E44 25.109)

In Morondava we met Karen and Joachim, a couple of Germans that rented a bike from Manfred as well. We travelled together for four days back to Ansirabe and further down to Ranomafana National Park. It was good fun.

As I said, at times bridge crossing can be tuff Believe me...it was scary!(S20 25.056 E45 26.118)

Heading back towards Mindrivazo

Back in the mountains: Ambositra

Making our way down to Ranomafana National Park

Rain Forest

We left the Rain Forest and we are going towards the dry zone, destination is Ranohira and the Isalo National Park

Ranohira...and this is what you call a resort: fantastic !(S22 38.969 E45 19.771)

Isalo National Park.

We are now leaving Ranohira riding all the way south-west to Tulear on the coast where our bike journy will finish

But since Dad suggested that negotiation is the secret of long lasting marriage...the third week was for the wife Tsarabanjina Island! S13 01.709 E48 32.664

The end

It tooks longer to upload these pictures than to go around Madagascar

Nicola

First off all i wish you and your wife great and happy life! i think that one of the best honey moons that can possible be is a trip on motorcycle.
why did you choose a Madagaskar and not some another place?

Madagascar was an actractive destination that I have been thinking to visit few times in the past. We wanted to do an on the road trip with bikes and there was possible to rent for resonable prices.

At the pool there were 3 more fellows . There were very few turist this year in Madagascar following the political crisis last winter.

Isn't it great when your lady rides as well ? (Mine too)
A top spot for a honeymoon, great pics.

I did something similar for our honeymoon, except I took Mrs Beak on a 10 day bushwalk in our southern state of Tasmania. Very rugged going and a great way to get to know each other.

Thanks for the pictures.

Wow!! Incredibly beautiful!! Congrats on your wedding!! What a fantastic way to spend your honeymoon! Your bride has passed the test with flying colors! Lucky couple who can ride together and share the same passion for 2 wheeled fun

I'm going to sticky this thread for a while to keep it on the front page.

Mate, nice to hear that you doing well and that you have finally made the USA

I have a new job starting sometime in January and I am really desperately looking for free time beforehand. I am working on a couple of possible trips with the XRL, and I will need your technical support .

I'll keep you update.
