I just called my wife and asked if I could go buy a Triumph Speed Triple so I could grab the tag using a naked sport bike. She said no.

It was worth a shot.

Yeah, but you can't see it because, you know, it's a ghost.

I had to look it up:

Sumbitch! I had an epiphany on they way home today. I was going to head to Hooters and get a shot of the girls with some "naked" wings. That was the best I could come up with, then I saw this.

Aw...screw it. I'm going to Hooters anyway.

This ghost sign thing is quite a fascinating topic. My dad just showed me a book called Ghost Signs of Arkansas, with lots of pics and some info about each shot. Sadly, many of the buildings pictured are no longer standing due to fires, tornados, or from being razed. But it's supposed to rain here tomorrow, so I'm gonna see what there is to see. Should be fun.

Not surprising that many of the remaining signs are Coca-Cola signs because it turns out that Coke was interested in preserving their signs and had a specific department that dealt with their upkeep. That probably came to an end in the 1950's when many towns began to pass laws banning the further use of such signs.

While I admit that it is neither very scenic, nor historic, I believe it qualifies as a "Ghost Sign"

What say Ye?
