So do you mean the k1300 R Sport, or the k1200 RS from a few years ago?

No, that's a r1200r with a k bike fairing photo shopped onto it.

Much nicer looking than an ST. That is the point

TRue that the front end was a bit different but that is the easiest thing to change. A little redesign with a more VFR-like headlight and adjustable handlebars, like the K1300GT, might have saved it.

Crap, when did Adobe discontinue Photoshop?

On point, I have an 1200ST currently and think it's a great bike, I even like the front end...The headlight actually puts out a useable amount of light -- unlike virtually every other bike I've had. I ride 90% of the time solo, so it's the perfect combo of sport and touring for me...

Shag, I know it's not a K-bike.

As far as I know, it's a R1200R with a K bike fairing photoshopped on.

Some folks say it's an actual BMW model, but I've never seen one like it.

Your assertion that it's an R12RS is probably wrong. No such animal!

I put that picture in my post just to show that BMW has the right stuff in-house to build a pretty sport-touring semi-faired R bike.

I remember when they came out I checked one out at the dealership, I liked the ridng position myself. it just seemed to fit me well.

The front end looked a little strange but for some strange reason I liked it.
I thought the two tone paint jobs looked really good.

I would have taken a test ride that day but it was raining.

I could see picking up a good used one if you could find one.

Yep, it might be butt ugly, but you can't see it's ugly face while ride'in it!
Besides, I can just leave the key in mine, and don't have to worry about anybody steal'in the thing!

When the new ST came out, we all joked (as the image above suggested) that the front end looked like Jar Jar Spinks of Star Wars.... but the thing really started to grow on me; now I really like it.

But it didn't sell well (to Americans). Americans are a funny lot, we either want all the bling of conspicuous consumption (full-on touring w/farkles), or we go the 'cheap' route and try to make the bike what it isn't. It's what we do.

Too bad it's discontinued, even the old RS (same basic design as the ST) didn't sell well to the Americans. In my opinion, they were the BEST of both worlds, sport AND the protection of a touring machine.

I wanted it. I test rode one and liked it. Would have needed helibars and the stock "bars" were, um different. I couldn't find a non-ABS one anywhere. ABS was $14k plus $1k for bags. Got my Ducati for $11k bags included. Still wanted one then it was gone!
