Just thinking out loud.
Mine has been disabled for a while now too but I'm pretty sure that it is a requirement for some state/country inspections.

Plus, I didn't want to force people to disable it if they didn't want to. My only option was to make sure that it would still fit and that they will have to lengthen the wires if they want to keep it.

Gotcha. I wasn't aware of inspection issues. SUX to have to use a safety device that is unsafe in itself.

Eh? Who has broken a case?

Just found this thread, and I admire your hard work and engineering skills, however you're fixing a problem I wasn't aware existed. What were the conditions that caused a broken case due to the kickstand location? Did it get caught on a boulder while riding or ?? Has this happened to many others out there?

Tried to search this topic to find other instances, found nothing except this thread.

So, it looks like a great solution, I'm just not certain how large a problem it is. I'd expect blowing a hole in a side cover with a rock would be a larger concern, I've fixed a few of those for riding buddies . . .

My bike is in the shop now getting the cases replaced because of this issue.

If you hit a side cover with a rock, JB Weld or similar can be a permanent albeit ugly solution to this damage.

Since the side stand bolts to the case and contributes to the crack, JB Weld or similar will not fix this crack. If you lean the bike on the side stand again, the JB Weld will open up and continue to leak.

Some here have seemingly had luck with TIG welding the crack.. Fortunately for me, my extended warranty is covering the case failure on my bike.

The event that caused the failure on my bike should have been inconsequential. A small rock came up off the front tire and smacked my sidestand on a mellow dirt road. This is most definitely a real issue that needs a solution.

Just got this message from the fab shop:

"I talked to the machine shop today. I will have the brackets here Friday around noon. Will need to weld nuts and your ready to try rev. 4 out !"

I plan to go there around 2:00 or 3:00 pm on Friday for the test fit. Pics to follow.

I'm interested to know how you got the warranty to extend coverage to that.

I think I speak for all those interested when I say thanks for sticking with this project.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Great job!

One suggestion before you go into full production:
Try your latest rev onto several different bikes, not only your own.

Oh he will.
There's a couple of us in the 'Burgh that will be sneaking over to Schmoe's house to take it off his 950 to put on the 990's
