late 80s - mid 90s softail, nothin '58 about it. I'd guess about 4k if it wasnt pink, cleaned up & looking/running good, 5-6k.
but that depends on where you are at, as it seems to be outside the US, probably worth alot more. jamaica?

But Im no expert.....

Ghana? cool.... I saw the little flag on the HD plate, thought maybe Jamaica.
Any old stuff there? altho I bet exporting it would be a pain!

I've been wanting to do the west coast of Africa, everyone does the east coast. The west is a bit sketchy in places......

Today I thought I saw Condor go cruising by but it was a quick shot. Haven't seen any real old stuff yet but was only out looking today. I'll be venturing out into the bush and searching as well. There is a guy here that imports bikes from the states. If I find anything I'm sure I could put it in a container going back. Takes about a month. Did some riding in Ethiopia and hope to do some here as well. Chop shops all over the place. I may go broke here!

got my new alternator & sprockets in, so been getting that installed.

the orig alternator worked ok, but the new cycle electrics puts out more amps, & at a lower rpm.

The only travel bike I have built that I didnt put a CE charging system on was the dirtster, & guess what broke, in turkmenistan.
I've talked to the owner of CE a couple times at trade shows, told him what I had done with his products, & mentioned him in magazine articles.
I hinted around at maybe a discout for the advertising, but I was sorta brushed off. Oh well, I'll still use thier stuff, only because its the best out there.
but a discount woulda been nice.......

lotsa crap has to come off

this is an issue with the stock setup, the plug at the case. as you can see, the one contact is black, from a bad connection, and it wouldnt have lasted alot longer. the easy fix for this is to cut the plug off, & hardwire them together, & fill the case hole with silicone.
CE comes with it hardwired, so this issue is fixed

I have drawers of HD special tools, but nothing for this late model stuff. Luckily, I was able to modify the older clutch hub puller to fit, & also this sprocket nut socket, which wasnt deep enough to fit over the shaft.

so I drilled it out a bit

then it fit ok.

pulled the seal to look at the bearing, all seems ok.

front end almost done, have to fab up some fender brackets

How hard is the chain conversion, are the sprocket offsets the same? Everything come as a kit?

Are you goung to use a skidplate?

That's the first year of EVO softail, due to kickstarter and chain drive. And it was 4 speed tranny as I remember. They made a really few of them in this setup. But Ghana.....

It's later that that. The motor is a top end breather (post 90) and the kicker is a aftermarket add on, on a 5 speed. I wouldn't touch that thing unless you can get it REAL cheap.

Hey that looks like "son of dirtster" in the top of the first picture
How is it running?

Is the wife gonna chase you on that on the TAT while you carry the groceries on the hack?

See you

got the rear wheel done, just waiting on the new sprocket for the chain conversion. Also have a new cycle electrics hi output alternator on order. it will probably be the most expensive part of the conversion. Once that stuff gets here, I'll pull apart the primary & swap it out, & maybe install a new clutch if needed.

also got the sidecar mounts installed, and the rear one wouldnt fit with the V&H pipes, so I put a set of factory headers back on it.

next, figuring out the seat. I always have problems deciding on what seat to use. I'm a seat whore. I probably have 20 solo seats, just waiting for the right bike. To me, the right seat can make or break the look of the bike. Plus, they dont always feel the same way on the same bike.

I sorta like this old K model seat, its really comfy, and would work good with a set of rear springs.

but, with this wide ass frame, theres alot of crap exposed, which doesnt look to good for me. I could always pound out an aluminum cover to go on the frame tho

I tried a little bigger one, of course I wouldnt keep it white, but it fits about the same

then, for the hell of it, I stuck this KZ1000 seat on it.

it covers the frame, its flat, so I can move around on it, & it flows with the lines pretty good. Its about 2" too long, so sits a bit high, but I'm sure I could cut it up & lower it.

I know... a kawasaki seat on a HD..... but I'm really leaning towards this one......
