Quite "subliminal"......

The downside is if rtwdoug sleeps naked in his box, he'll have "BMW" stenciled on his ass.

Rig looks REAL good!

I 'almost' got a bmw tattoo on my ass during the magadan trip, just so I could moon the camera in front of the magadan sign.

The main reason I didnt do it, was I didnt want to ride for thousands of miles with a tat slowly healing there.

Is there enough battery to run that winch?

marine battery in the sidecar, with a switch to isolate it from the bike when the need arises

This Indian 4 ,at Wheels Through Time has a winch at the rear running off a jack shaft. To use it to pull forward a cable is threaded though the pipe U bolted on top of the S-C frame.
But. it's no Harley.

The first Harley with a winch? By no means!
Dave Barr, is the legless adventure who rode his elderly and knackered Harley not only around the world, but as far South and as far North as was possible on two wheels.

He later rode an 883 Sportster around and through Australia, including as far South, North, East and West as he could go.

He fitted a winch to the front crashbars to get himself to places that no legless soldier on an unsuitable motorbike would normally dream of going.
Google him. Then buy his books and DVDs.

I had forgotten about Dave Barr's bike. I wasnt trying to be first with a winch anyhow.
Theres not much that can be done to a bike that hasnt been done already.

I have the same winch on my tractor - lifting/lowering the snowplow, pulling logs out of the woods, etc. It's a tough sumbitch.

You may want to consider changing the Hawse Fairlead on the front with a roller fairlead. The Hawse that it comes with is for synthetic line, not the steel line. It's weird, but mine came the same way. Basically if you do any pull that rubs on the fairlead a little, you will carve a groove in the aluminum and that will eventually hurt your cable. Roller fairleads are $10-$20 for a winch that size.

^^^ True. I used to sell 'em. The hawse is fine in straight-pull applications. But, I don't know anyone who does that.
