But what are ya gonna do, cry about it, or take it home & fix it?
I opted for #2
I will have a fire extinguisher on it tho!
my 38 Panther chopper caught fire the same way years ago, again outside of a bar. Did about the same amount of damage.

fire extinguishers are a good thing.

I wonder if amazon will give me a discount on a case lot?

let me get this right only sober guy at the bar set his bike on fire

i'll drink to that

I've been thinking about this Doug, and I've come to the conclusion that you simply CANNOT repaint these tanks!!!

this bike is now building a history for itself, and it would be sacrelig for you to remove, hide, camoflage, or paint over that all important part of this bike's spirit!
It's like a scar you got riding your bicycle as a kid. It tells a part of who you are, and where you've been.

Give it a bath...OK

but PLEASE don't repaint these tanks!!

(b'sides...it'll make for a great roadside story!)

Agreed, that could have been much worse. Clean off that ABC fire extinguisher powder really well, some of it can be caustic. A little paint and some saddle soap and yes, get a case of extinguishers, one in the garage, one on the Dirtster, one for the Chopper, one on the Shop Service Car . . .

See you in Grand Junction on the 15th with Paint or Patina

Cheers, Chris

I agree!! just rinse the sumbitch off and ride. Spend the money on something useful like another hammer and holster.

I have enough bikes that are 'cosmetically challenged'

I used to ride an old knucklehead that loved to fart through the carb and start itself on fire. (do this at a crowded gas station sometime, and you'll see a new defination to the word ADRENALINE!!)

...somehow, I never thought of it as being an ADVenture!! (maybe I need to change my viewpoint???)

I'm thinking this calls for a special edition T-shirt. One with flames on it. And maybe a picture of Doug throwing gravel on his bike. The slogan could be 'burning up the Cannonball' or 'This baby's on fire' or something like that.

Shit Doug

Haven't checked in in ages and this is what I see....

I set my BMW on fire in Uzbekistan. Same thing, plenty of drama but it wasn't that bad in the end. It's way better than being bored all the time right?
