Beta 270 opinions?

One for sale, not very local but close enough to have me interested. Its a 2001 model. I've been riding dirt for a while but have always wanted to try trials.

Beta's are, without a doubt, the most popular bike in the New England trials scene followed by Sherco, Gas Gas, Montesa and Scorpa. All the modern trials bikes are so close in performance, at least to those of us who are not pros, that you really can't go wrong with any bike made in the last 10-years. Biggest thing to look for is dealer support. Most of the guys I know ride Sherco because the dealer is local.

I have a Beta 250 and like it better than the GG Pro 270 that I had before it.

Betas are some of the toughest and most reliable of trials bikes. They have spotty parts distribution but you can say that for all of them. Most guys buy parts from another rider who is a "dealer". The 270 is a lot of motor for a beginner or novice. The advanced riders like the snap but a novice probably does better with a 2.5. The Betas are heavier than most trialers but that is not a real problem in novice classes. In fact if you learn to ride that beast you will be ahead of other novices if you stay with trials and advance. You will find that Parts and distribution wise this is a different world from trailbikes. If the price is right I would go for it.

Because you ride a GG270, so mine has to be better. Is that a good reason?
