This is mine.

Since I brought it into my garage it's sitting there with 30 miles on it waiting for the rain to stop.

Not the best picture, but here is my Monster (from a ADV tag-o-rama). The Remus pipes are nice, though perhaps just a bit too loud.

I seriously considered the Monster before going with the retro, I've always liked them. I got great sound from the Remus pipes on my BMW, and notably better performance.

Dark Wing... fantastic picture with the ocean backdrop. And... thanks for your service to this country.

Bert - Nice bike! Congratulations.

If you're interested in a nice well-made rear hugger to keep the spray off, I know a guy who makes them out of black plastic, and they are really high quality. PM me if you're interested.

Gilera 106

I had a 1966 Gilera (Sears Allstate 106) for a couple of years back in 1975 to 1977 as a street compliment to my Hodaka 100.

The Gilera is Italian, but they ain't all pretty.

I wish I had some actual pictures of that bike as my brother owned it prior to me and he painted the WHOLE THING in a red metal flake with really large flakes.

I initially owned it prior to having a license, so it ended up with a ribbed front tire and a knobby on the back. I beat the piss out of it and it kept going. I guess it was my first adventure bike.

A little history:

In the 1950's and 60's it became popular for mass-merchants, like Sears and Montgomery Ward, to sell motorcycles. These merchants would strike deals with select motorcycle manufacturers to re-brand the bikes and sell them as their own. As they were often offered and sold via catalog, these motorcycles are sometimes known as "catalog bikes."

I remember at the time, when I broke the muffler and rear shocks I was amazed that you could still order parts for it through the Sears Catalog.

Sorry, China not Taiwan. Either way not a good thing.

I have the article from Dave Robb where he spoke about aprilia making the 650 single. He must have meant designed by, with Rotax making them, as those two have a decent history together.

Nobody is biting, so let me be the first one to ask: is this your garage?

Don't I wish. Uh no, that's the delivery area at Motocorsa in Portand. It really made the experience special. My one car garage is more modest, much much more modest.
