Like To Contribute..

Hi, ADVer's

New here, decided it's finally time to contribute.

I've owned Ducatis for over 30 years, among other bikes,
and would like to contribute to this thread, I've gotten a smugmug account,
but so far haven't been able to load a pic. How can I change my setting in
posting rules - 'you may not post attachments'
. I'm all ears..

Cheers, Tom

you need to link to a picture.
if you have the file location & you click that little yellow landscape icon it'll bring up a box to paste the pic address in to and voila,,,

Option 2: Open a SmugMug or Photobucket account:

SmugMug and Photobucket specialize in image hosting. They do the image resize thing automatically, allow you to post many images per post, and you can post to other message forums. They don't use ADVrider's disk storage or bandwidth, which helps keep ADVrider fast.

In addition, with SmugMug, you get real online albums you can arrange, customize, use for family, travel, hobbies, etc. Disclaimer: I own SmugMug. The idea came from ADVrider and the need for good photo hosting.

You can tag any album at SmugMug as part of the ADVrider community, and it will show up with other member's galleries in the ADVrider community home page, most recent on top.

Photobucket offers limited free accounts and easy upgrade to more capacity for a nominal yearly fee. SmugMug offers a free trial and full accounts for a nominal annual fee.

Once you have an account, you can use the IMG button, , that you see above the area where you type when you post. The image button let's you specify an Internet address (URL) to identify the image.

Here is a tutorial at SmugMug that should answer your Qs.

Clear as mud?

Q: "But... But.... I followed your directions to link to a photo exactly from some other photo sharing site and it didn't work!? Computers really piss me off."

A: Some sites don't appreciate you linking to their images for mindless posts, so they block it.

Note: Other picture hosting sites can be used.

Hey, Thanks Greg, I've tried that, but at the btm of the page- posting rules says 'you may not post attachments'
I think I need to change that first, but how? Thanks, Tom

No one is currently allowed to upload attachments right now, due to server loading (I think). The way to use your smugmug account is to upload there, get the direct address of the image (right click/save image location, or maybe there is a specific option - I use photobucket, and the direct link is listed below the thumbnail)

Anyways, once you've got the link - look on the top line in the response window for a yellow square with mts in it. Click that and paste your link in there.

So http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_1892cs.jpg becomes

Thanks for posting the song of the sausage creature. I remember reading it in cycle world magazine years ago.

Love that bike. Would still like to have one.
I had a Brutale until just recently and as much as I like my Ducati Streetfighter, the build quality of the MV is head and shoulders above that of the Ducati

Love this bike. Put some serious miles on in Summer 2010 - I rode her on the Buckeye State 1000-mile bun burner and became an offical member of the Iron Butt Club. Then NY to Alberta, Montana, Wyoming etc. Rode 2 times down to Asheville, NC and did Deals Gap and the Diamondback. Very comfortable seat and riding position. Smooth and fast on the highway - great in the curves. Only complaint is that the fuel capacity is a bit small for those long tours.

Loved it but the streetfighter fits me much better and is overall more user friendly. Brutale was twitchy as hell too. Awesome bike though. And like I said, the build quality was head and shoulders better than my Ducati.

Yes! A bit of an angry bike.
I've heard from a Ducati dealer that the newer Ducatis are being built with much lower quality than the earlier ones.
I do like some of the earlier Ducati models, but I just love my MV with the star wheels, color scheme, the way it looks and handles, not found of the newer models.
