I've been promising myself a Ducati for decades then this 999S presented itself and I thought WTF let's do it while the old bones can still get onto the bike.

The starter spragg clutch is dicey and needs to be replaced but what a hoot.

This is a picture with my son's RC8 on a recent breakfast run.

You should really switch the question as the KTM has about 8 years on the 999. Looking purely at specs the top speeds are the same at over 160 mph, while the KTM edges the Duc on horsepower and torque. (133 vs 124 and 83 vs 75 respectively)

Since both of us are new to the superbike scene we can not utilise their potential or venture any kind of informed opinion on the dynamics. We have already booked two Michelin Super Bike School days to start rectifying this situation.

All I can say at this stage is that they are both exhiliratingly fast and to my mind the ergos on the KTM are better allthough I prefer the ride of the Duc.

Some awesome looking bikes in here. Love the sport classic's.

As for me, I picked up a Diavel 2 weeks ago. I've got 850 miles on it now and it is fantastic. Great handling, phenomenal brakes and engine. It's very comfortable and fairly light as well. For me the riding position is just slightly leaning forward which the wind balances out.

me and my mate a few days ago. i have open termis, his exhaust is heavily modified. riding through tunnels is...freakin awesome.

im still getting used to the bike, but while many people warned me about the "aggresive" riding position, im getting along pretty good. we did about 400kms today on twisty alpine roads and i really cant complain. looks like my body takes the abuse pretty well!

That is very beautiful. Lucky man - and a smart one.

How are the drum brakes these days?
