Saw one looking exactly like that in a Calgary repair shop in 1980 or 1981. The left muffler was bent upwards 90*, it had been hit by a car, iirc.

This bike was repainted by Cyclemania Artworks in Okotoks, Bmw came out with this color combination as a 25 th aniversary of Luftansa Air line,

There was also an option for this model as well with a polished carburetor tops, rear drive and maybe the calipers or something was chromed. I can not remember the exact details.

your right
Polished front forks, rear drive, valve covers, chrome Carb tops and rear springs, I need to polish the bike up, bring back the shine,, the original came with blue decals,, these are painted on as close to original as possible

thanks to everyone for all the comments,

My friend restored this somewhat rare KH400 3 cylinder two stroke. He bought it for $100 in a scrapyard and invested less than $200 more. I was impressed. If you could have seen it before he started , you would understand. Unfortunately his father passed away last night. Just thought I would share it.

Really sorry to hear about your friend's dad. That's a great bike.

The first result in this Google Images search is 1553 X 2085 resolution. Great for printing!

It's going on the back of my tool box at work tomorrow - right next to the one that shows BMW - Celebrating 85 years of Adventure Touring (which shows a bunch of Germans on a BMW sidecar rig on the eastern front) I put them there to keep the Harley boys in check. I also put them under plastic so they can't be defaced.

The Harley crowds a little strange alright, at least they were at bike week.
