Here's my old girl. She's a 1985 Yamaha Virago 700.

My father in law bought her new.

She found herself in the posession of my brother in law, a confirmed HD guy that disrespected her.

Once he'd had his way with her and she was all used up, he gave her to me.

My first bike ever at age 53 and I remembered when grandpa first brought her home. I gave her the care she deserved and even upgraded her suspension with WORKS dual rate StreetTrackers for the rear and RaceTech springs and emulators for the forks.

I nursed her to good health, gave her new old chrome, fixed what needed it, replaced the seat with a leather Mustang and gave her a SpitFire screen.

Rode her for three and a half glorious years, learned on her, took fantastic day trips, made good friends.

Unfortunately my mom lets me use her garage to park ONE bike, so when I got my new ride, I had to sell her.

A nice guy in his 60's that was learning to ride, MSF course etc, found her on my BARF ad and came bearing cash.

I believe he will respect her. He seemed to be that kind of guy. Godspeed.

It’s like driving a brand new bike , I think it’s a keeper ?

Very nice. Anybody have an idea where I might find the speedo drive gear unit on the front axle. I tried eBay, to no avail so far!

Yes I do have an idea of where you can find one, but you are not going to like the answer. There is a packrat down by the river in Auburn Maine that has 3 floors of and old warehouse that is full of old bikes and bike parts. Bring your old parts so you can match them up, your own tools, your own flashlight and bring cash. You won't be disappointed. He doesn't do phone orders and has never heard of email.

There are a couple of XS650's on the Akron Canton Craigslist with the same seats!
