Thanks for the positive feedback...yeah 1978 and 79 both had kickstarters...usually they were stowed away behind the right ssidecover as they also had e-start...but the shaft extends externally so that the kickstarter lever can be attatched...after 79 they plugged the hole with a rubber cover...the bike runs even better than it looks....i kid you not... as for Superbike...yes it was ...in fact in 1978 it was the 1st liter plus Superbike to come to the USA...95 hp from the factory. Taken from the showroom to the dragstrip in stock form it ran sub 12 second 1/4 miles all day long...and back then that was a big deal...today this bike can still hold its own out on the road but a 600 cc sport bike could easily out accelerate it...i 'spose...still has plenty of cool though...

A few bits are not completely correct for the model year... but it will make and excellent basis for a period correct cosmetic fix up...

New/Old 1978 KZ200

This popped up on craigslist and I jumped on it. 1978 Kawi KZ200 with 252 original miles. It has been sitting in a garage for the last 35 years. Unbelieveable condition. I will go through and service and inspect everything before I start putting miles on it. The carb boot was cracked so I ordered 2 spares from Indonesia.

I had a low mileage 82 1100 Katana (Cdn) way back when and it sipped a bit of oil between oil changes, mounted a Lockhart oil cooler and zero oil consumption thereafter...

Sweet machine trevorf, enjoy !

Jeeze, where was that thing, in a warm dry closet for 30 years?

Great standard. Needs nothing but gas and a smile.

Wow that s not going to happen often . I bet if it was ship over to Japen and sold there it would go for 8 to 10 grand. They pay good bucks over there for bike like this
