This matchless, 1950ssomething, gets ridden all over Aus to rallies by its owner Claude. These oics were taken last year at a rally in Gascoyne Junction in Western Aus.

Not taken by me, but here's Claude on his way back home over east, after the rally, He's got some 7,000kms to do.

The ocker on the Matchless gets my vote. He's the real deal. I bet he rides the wheels off that thing, too. Look at the footpegs and his choice of tires. K81's.

Scanner was delivered into my hot little hands this morning. Now I've just gotta clear a spot on the desk ( ) and figure out how to make it "scan".

For pics of the Buell for sale () just click on the link in my sig line. I'm makin the effort, but I ain't gonna part with that thing! I looove that bike

Putting a Buell in the same thread as all these gorgeous Nortons and Guzzis is like putting Rosie O'Donnell on a stripper pole. You sir, should be fined, banned and flogged.

Nope, all original, I saw the same one on a pic of a new one from 1974.

I hear your comments re. Buell's asthetics. The new bikes are stellar machines in every sense, but their appearance seems an aquired taste. They'd have an easier job of it if earlier Buells weren't so darn good looking. I'm sure if I spent some time riding one it'd grow on me, though. Pretty is as pretty does, I say.

Re. Reliability of the Tube Framed Buells: I've owned four of them and have suffered exactly one failed coil and one failed starter relay. The starter relay could probably have been revived, but I replaced it with a new item purchased generically for $7. The coil I sourced used for peanuts.

ie: They've been more reliable, easier and cheaper to maintain than my many beloved BMW's. And did I mention how much fun they are to ride? Wow, that's some good riding fun, right there.

Anyhow, Jabba's not happy with us discussing Buells on this thread, and I'm not sure how old a bike has to be to be discussed here, so I better let it go just now. But I can't believe any gear head, no matter how marque blinded they are, wouldn't find beauty in the gorgeous organic curves of this machine.

Oh yea, and Sniperx, that's a really nice find in that old Yamaha trials bike. Very nice. Good on you.

fwiw,
Lornce
