Thumb Better Than A Vespa ???

i know that vespa owners are going to have a fit, but let them!
the new la vita 150 has the style of the vespa, but without the price of ownership. besides the msrp of $ 2,495.00 going for it, there have been modern upgrades made to it such as electronic fuel injection too.
scheduled to arrive into the usa around the 1st. of the year, hammer head scooters, and the folks at adly have been developing the la vita 150 for the past two years. this is not your usual time line, and the result will be a very well thought out concept, that carries over to a very well built scooter.
fully automatic, the la vita is going to be offered in the 150cc version first, and a 49cc version soon after. i am going to get allot more info on this hot new scoot soon, but i wanted to post a few of the test photos for everyone to see. cheerz!

Is that a spare tire/wheel in the way there? I hope that is an option. Mainland China?
Might be a high price for a 150cc China scoot.
Good luck selling but it won't replace the Vespa with the purist.

Is this a Chinascoot? A Mainland/Taiwan collaboration? Help me out here.

I thought Adly was a Taiwanese marque. Taiwan produces quality stuff, and has made serious inroads into the market. PGO, SYM, Kymco and other Taiwan brands may not use steel monocoque bodies like Vespa, but that has an up-side, and the rep for quality stuff from Taiwan is well deserved.

I owned an '08 Vespa GTS 250ie, and it was an extremely fine bike. I hated to let it go, but they're too expensive for what you get, and way too costly to repair when bodywork takes a hit. Modern Vespas are strictly one-up bikes; the ergos completely suck for a passenger - it is impossible for anyone, even the lithest of leggy supermodels - to use the passenger pegs without severe discomfort.

The reality is that mere cachet and tradition will not be enough to sell scoots in a cautious world anymore. I have owned Taiwanese machines, and was very well-satisfied; don't want to widen the 'Chinascoots-Are-Crap/No-They're-Not' conflict here, but at first glance, this appears to be a well-designed piece of work. At that price-point, I would certainly consider it once a few questions are answered.

People are gonna wanna know: who - exactly - makes this bike? Who makes the engine/tranny? How are the body panels configured, and how handy/difficult will they be to remove for maintenance? What infrastructure will support it?

Adly's been in the US for awhile now and hasn't exactly taken the country by storm or built up a giant dealer network. So why exactly would anyone buy this instead of the well established Stella? (and its not for the 4 stroke engine since Stella's going to have one next year).

If they're seriously intending to be a player, then they're gonna hafta do a better infrastructure/supprt job. Building interest in a decent scoot at a good price - if that what it turns out to be - is one thing. Dealers, service, parts another. Putting a network in place takes a sizeable investment; few are willing to sink that kinda dough nowadays.

A lotta Mainland Chinese scoot dealers have begun complaining about lack of supprt themselves. One maufacturer has begun selling direct over the 'Net, with the PDI done, and shipping thrown in. That essentiallly leaves their dealers hanging out to dry (and ultimately, customers). The same people are whacking dealers from their website 'dealer directory' because they failed to meet expected ordering levels.

Will be waitin' to see what the thing's DNA is, how it stacks up, and what suppot will be out there. A great bike at a great price is not enough to do it.

i am standing on the sidelines on this one, and watching to see what transpires. the info that i have posted has been secondhand through a sales rep. that works for adly, and has ridden the scooter.
the reason that i see for people choosing it over the stella is obvious...
IT IS AN AUTOMATIC
the sales rep. that i am referring to was really stoked on the performance of the fuel injected motor with his 260# butt putting it through the paces.
maybe i can get him to chime in here ,and get everybody a real firsthand report. cheerz!

Too bad, I think there's a market a for quality built retro designed scoot but w/ a 4 stroke, 150-200CC manual trans. Mainland would not be my 1st pick but Taiwan should be able to do something nice.
