It was in my Panorama magazine too. The turbo diesel would be my choice as well.

My wife thinks I goofy for diggin wagons, told her they make some good look'n rods, found a 70 something Chevy wagon with teh wood grain on the sides the other day, it was painted up in a bright yellow & topped off with a pair of surf boards on the roof (all for looks because thers no place in Tennessee to surf), cool as shit.

Great thread guys.

Brewer,

You peaked my interest - pm me a few pics. Honestly don't know if Mrs. Snow will go for another turbo - its been an issue - don't ask about stuffing the impeller w/mormon crickets.

What sort of milege you getting?

Re: Forester. We are looking for a 4 wheel drive vehicle that fits a family - I'm 6'5", wifey 5'10", Daughter Snow 5"6" and Son Snow 5'2" (10yo). I suspect the kids will continue to grow as they are opportunistic feeders.

Would like 10 years and 30mpg out of the next one.

I picked up a 1999 BMW 528iT a few weeks ago. The weather here has been pretty crummy so I haven't gotten a good pic yet.

So far, I love it!

Ditched my astrosafari van and bought an Audi allroad. It's a 2002 with a ton of miles on it and from everything I'm reading it's going to be a nightmare to maintain, but the price was right and it's so damn sexy!

The closest car in Toyota's line up to the Prius is the Matrix which is <$20K and already gets 30mpg! At 30mpg & $3/gal you could buy 100,000 gallons of gasoline with the $10K you saved or drive 3 million miles (if I did the math correctly).
Gotta remember though that VW options the regular golf and diesel golfs differently. A regular golf can't be had with navi, hids, and i don't think 2 drs have a moonroof available. No cold weather package either. Pretty much all tdis come as optioned as GTIs with the only options being HIDs and navi.

I think he is referring to an event, rather than the specific modifications to that wagon.
