Trailer Update

Trailer Update

Naturally,I neglected to take any pics when I first bought it, but here it is with the wood, lights and wiring all removed. At this point it does have new bearings and new tires...

And I did weld an additional brace on the tailgate - the piece in the middle here (to support the bike as I ride up onto the dovetail / deck of the trailer)...

Next steps include sandblasting, new PT lumber, new lights, etc.

More Trailer Progress

Just back from getting Sandblasted to within an inch of it's life - all fresh, clean, virgin-like steel...

And in the process of having primer slathered all over it - making sure not to miss any spots...

I'm probably going to leave the axle and leaf springs for a separate project later, so next step is to paint the frame - I'm torn between red and blue at the moment. I mean, the truck is gray, one of the bikes is gray and the other bike is white. I feel like a little color is in order.

Dang it; I just can't catch a break! Wont make it tonight. You guys have a cold one for me!

If anyone is ever thinking of being self employed/small business owner- come hang out with me a week! There is no such thing as "personal time" anymore! My DR is getting ready to leave me for someone who has time for her!

I would love to, but Evan and I are heading down to the Barber Motorsports Museum for the weekend - I'll post up some pics of the motorcycles on display!

Put me down as a serious "maybe...probably....more than likely".

I clearly need a vacation. I have my weekends mixed up. Barber is NEXT weekend.

THIS weekend I am spending on the continuing saga of painting my trailer project. And painting. And painting...

trailer question

what you need a trailer for? Is your bike broke or has the garbage man quit on you?

Another Trailer Update

So the color decision has been made - Royal Blue. Painting every little crack and crevice and angle and joint and curve and edge should only take a couple of months, then I can start on the lights and the decking.

A) to take my DR 650 riding places that are too far away (for me, anyway) to get to by riding it

B) to take my RT along on some business trips and sneak in some long weekends riding - for example, I have some meetings in New Jersey in October. I could, in theory, drive up with the RT in tow instead of flying, attend my meetings then take off on the bike for a weekend in New England

C) to take my DR 650 and my daughter's TTR 125 and head out for some off road riding - maybe Carolina Adventure World, for example

D) to someday take the RT and DR out West to ride the big bike on Highway 1 up the California and Oregon coast and then ride the little bike in Baja

And if the garbage man does quit, I'm all set.
