Yes we did.

Great ride we had, Mort, Scott & i met at Scott's...wait a minute, i explained this earlier.

OK...somewhere's near Vernonia we had all this fun...should've been with us.

Mort.

Scott.

Went to the Vernonia Orist shop...yeah right.

Steep hillsides & knarly creeks.

Rode over the top of these tunnels on the way down to the tracks, then went exploring!

1 of many small bridges, not really tressels.

From a nice little camp spot.

Scott doing his best "big foot" impersonation.

Scott.

I knew i was overweight...but i thought it would hold me!

Mort needs to slow down so my cheap camera can focus...maybe i just need lessons.

Mort coming back up outta the tunnel area.

Good day out, great exploring, good lunch (i should've got a photo of that burger stack, with the knife jabbed through it holding it together)...sweeet!!

You'd have to buy a bigger camera.

Working graveyard really cuts into the important things in life. Looks like I missed a lot of fun.

Anyone have a GPS track of the ride they are willing to share?

What days do you have all? I sometimes go out during the week. I'm getting ready to head out to the Coast Range right now.

I have Fri-Sun off. The issue is switching back to being a day person (work 6pm to 4am). It was easy when I was younger but as I've gotten older (59) it's not as easy. So most of my riding time starts in the afternoon these days.

Few more pictures, not much to add to Squishy and Mort's.

The Sunny day that wasn't.

Few muddy spots as well.

Didn't keep Mortimer from dropping down Beaverslide regardless.

First tunnel wasn't so bad. The ADVmonster lights came in handy for a change.

Somebody punched a hole in a perfectly good mountain.

Was fun riding along the tracks. Includes some easy single track as well, which was fun.

Spot Squishy?

Bikes is fun. Thanks guys.

Wicked I made it out

Well I finally got out this afternoon. Got home from errand running/time with wife had lunch and stuff. "Honey you mind if I go for a ride?" ......"I thought you would have left by now." Sorry I don't have any pics to share. I really am, cause I found some awesome views!

I made it out to Altoona, cause I have always wanted to! One of those roads I always want to go down and always seem to be going or coming from somewhere and can't do it. Very cool road to ride! Very scenic out by the river. I made it up on the hill a little ways and could see the Astoria bridge from where I was.

Hit some of the logging roads, and a little 4 wheeler trail on the way back. Found another great view of Middle and West valley, and the river where it bends at Smak-a-skank-away.

Had to kick it over to reserve when I head down the hill. I guess I should pay more attention to miles on the odo. I though I would make it to Longview on reserve. Turns out no so much. Ran out of gas coming down the hill by county line park. 153 miles which make sense cause I get around 50 and I have I think 3.4 gals in stock tank. Good thing I am friends of a friend of the park host. Bummed a little gas from him and made it to town. When I filled up I heard something running on the ground. Float needle was stuck fuel running out vent hose.

Anyway all good now, just some junk stuck on needle seat. Gas station close to home so I just rode home. I guess I will shut up now. Kids and wife don't seem to like to her about my rides much. So I gotta tell you guys about it.

Oh and was the couple pulling out of county line park when I rolled in anyone from on here? I forget what kinda bikes they had. I was on the old honda XL. Bout 5:30 or 6 o'clock maybe.

Chris

Trestles

Hey guys, loving the railway adventures, and I'll have to get over there to see the tunnels and stuff.

Just one thing making me crazy: It is spelled TRESTLE !

You think you are in a sad way? Pity me:I just determined that Scott has Webster's Collegiate, and Brian has Random House.

Some nice wild steelhead in that little river. Hopefully the railroad never gets rebuilt.
