Sticks and Stones .............and Antlers?

I started making walking sticks about 15 years ago when my kids were little and I was orbiting the house. I have been giving them as gifts and selling them here and there. Very low production, about 50 a year. A few years ago I started making canes for some family members. I use eculyptis wood, abalone, torquoise, water buffalo horn and some other things like old clam shell button blanks, giraffe and cowbone.

Thanks for looking

Works great!

Need to paint it, but good enough for now.

Put alot of hours in on that piece of test hardware. So far its working and staying stable under temp. Its a good thing we match pinned all the joints.

A Couple of recent projects

Mini steam engine (for indication of size, base is 2" x 2")

Cell phone holder (the amazing thing was getting the socket the correct size for a good friction fit on the first try, most of my projects have a sizable scrap heap associated with them )

Love the steam engine!!!
(yer cel phone holder is cool too, but I've got a thing for these engines)

We have a steam engine gathering up here in Oregon that you'd go nuts at!!

http://www.antiquepowerland.com/

(check out the videos on youtube)

there's everything from small table-top size steam engines, like the type you've built here...all the way up to monstrositys built on railroad cars!!! Several thousand people show up for it.
There's a steam powered saw mill on location that they've got running all day too (very cool to watch!)
