More Merkur madness... this time I built a harness bar.
(Pardon the terrible photos, I spend all my loot on car parts, rather than a fancy DSLR.)

I drew up the mounting plates and tabs in CAD and had them cut on the local steel shop's CNC plasma table. I fueled my narcissism by including a "CD" logo on each side.

After measuring carefully and drilling a couple of mounting holes, the plates were bolted in place on the B-pillars.

1.25" .120-wall DOM tubing

Not pictured are the threaded bungs, which slip into each end and get welded in place. I used this same tubing for the downtubes, despite it being way overkill.

Harness strap loops bent up and trimmed.

It mounts to the OEM seatbelt fasteners and uses Schroth Rallye 4 ASM harnesses, which are DOT-approved.

I like Hormel Chili better than Naleys, good road food...now available in Canada.

Ever try Stagg chili? It's my favorite.

+1 on the stagg- family favorite. My 9 yr old figured out his own "recipe"- he takes one can of stagg and adds another can of beans or two and maybe a few other canned things (corn, mushrooms, whatever), heats it up and viola. Hey, at least I didn't have to cook it!

I've been fine tuning my own chili for 25 years or so and it is my favorite, however that Stagg chili is as good as any that comes out of a can. Pour it over some rice with fresh chopped onions and some grated cheese.

I got this glider cheap (relatively speaking) because the finish was literally blowing off the wings.
About 400 hours of work later, I'm flying it.

I made this tonight.

It's mounting plate for my J&M CB.

Brackets that do this are sold on the interwebs for $50+; I think this cost 2 hours labor and <$4 in parts.
