I woke up Saturday night thinking it was pouring rain around Bowie, looked out the door and the frikken wind had to be doing 50 mph. I parked my KLR too, impromptu lane changes suck!

Yard Project

A couple years ago I designed and built this gate arch and the columns that support the metal fencing. After I built the structure, my awesome stucco guy covered up all my mistakes!

The columns are on a cool foundation system I also designed, but I deleted the pictures accidentally. Basically a 4" thick slab with a vertical post, kind of like a big golf tee, with rebar. The columns are 1/2 PT ply with 2x4 corners to support the weight of the 170 pound concrete caps.

The free standing wall in last picture is an outdoor shower wall. You can see the posts for the other walls, which were made out of cedar. I also built the trellis. I did NOT install the pavers! That's HARD work!!!

oops

Built a shed to park my bike under. Just neglected to build it well enough to hold two feet of wet snow.

This is my first attempt at leather. Not as good as I had hoped but better than I expected.

My little side hobby - Avalanche Amplification.

I didn't build the guitars, but i did build the amps (except the Vox head).

From left to right:

Deluxe Reverb clone head with tweaks (bias-modulated tremolo, re-voiced 'normal' channel, reverb on both channels, negative feedback reduction switch), 1x15 cabinet loaded with Weber California

Super Reverb clone head (a.k.a. Vibro-Clone) with similar tweaks as above

Tweed Bandmaster clone

Tweed Deluxe clone that currently has a 2x10 speaker baffle (and mismatched grille cloth) loaded with a Weber alnico Blue Pup and an alnico Silver Bell. First amp I ever built!

Vox AC15 Heritage Handwired on a 2x12 cab that I built with one alnico Weber Blue Dog and one Weber ceramic 12-30.

Here's some speakers out of 6" sched 40 pipe. Made from internet plans + the sub is a monkey coffin MDF piece. The best part is sound effects for the video games, it can actually be disorienting at a loud enough level. I also have a naked tin roof so i need volume to enjoy music or movies during the rain.

Nice! We have similar taste in speakers. Blue Dogs and Silver Bells have gone into most every cab I've had, save 1 or 2. I've built a few amps myself as well. Considered starting a boutique amp company at one time, but never got around to it after the economy tanked.

EDIT: FYI, all your guitars are backwards.

I built a '58 Champ from a few bent parts and a bunch of sweat and money!

Damn! I can't find any digital photos. I have 'em, though.

I get that a lot. The upside is no one borrows 'em at jams

The Blue Dog/Silver Bell sound good with dang near anything plugged into them - clean or dirty, tweed or blackface Fender, Marshall, or Vox. I've built a couple 18 watt and a couple JTM45 Marshall clones - they really sounded awesome (especially the JTM45 - those amps were hard to let go!)

I'm less than enamoured with the 2x10 setup in my Tweed Deluxe clone - I threw them in there 'cause I had the speakers laying around, but I'm not really a 10" speaker kind of guy. Maybe I need to build a tweed Bassman to see the light.

Until then I think I might sell the 10" Blue and Silver and put a 12" Blue Dog back in there. I've debated popping for the "real" Celestion Blue, but I'm not sure it's worth the premium.

Jon - find them pics! Did you use a 6" or an 8" speaker?
