Hey Dahveed....Actually,turn signals aren't required in Texas....but if they're on the bike, some shops check em to make sure they work & might not give a sticker if they don't. &..one mirror is all that's required. The headlight needs a high & low beam too.

You still want a CO map?? Gonna have some soon.

One more option for ya.....Maybe a larger bike (400 or?) with some lowering links added. Then if he's not gonna continue to ride, you'd have a more highway friendly bike. But this would pass your budget by....

None of its required if you don't get caught.

Ghost had a KLX650 (I think he's owned at least one of most bikes). I think its a big bike, the same size as a KLR650. It just has a higher performance motor. Do you have lots of tools, time and patience?

Be sure...when you go to look at bikes....There are enduro models (NOT STREET LEGAL) with headlights (no high beam) & taillights (no brake light).
The handlebar may not have a bracket for a mirror either, but that can be added.

....& of course...THE BIGGIE....YOU NEED A TITLE. Take a copy of TX Application For Title form 130-U with ya for the seller to sign. You can download a copy from TXDOT website.

If you're googling KLXs....look at an XT600 90-98 with elect start XT600E blue & grey not earlier red & white ...another bulletproof bike

Those were things I was gonna ask first. It HAS TO BE street legal. That's my main concern right now.

& speakin of BMW singles....Someone's got an F650 Dakar for sale out front of their house near my place. Blue & white model

Correct. But you knew that.

Yard, have you considered holding out for an older KLR650 or 600. Wait long enough and I'd assume you could snag one or put a little extra dough back.

And on the plus side, if he doesn't stick with it, you'll have a larger dual sport for touring work to go with your smaller bike.

Well, if you like wrenching instead of riding and want to spend lots on tools and hours learning how to do this then the KLX is the bike for you. $200 seems a better price for a bike that don't run with known engine issues.

With any sub $1,000 bike, you've got a good chance of fixing something in the near future. With the KLX, that probability is 100%.

Yardracer , You looking for a bike for your Old man ,

If you can stretch your budget some , I will give you 3 times the bike your looking at ,way nicer , way cleaner , more power, sooner or later you will be glad you have it , button start , etc , xr650l , its the 1 on the right up front , will get some pics up later if you like . it sets about 2 inches lower than stock right now.

or I'll let you get this 1 from me if you like , might fit him a little better,

That KLX has a bad head...that is a weak point. Depending on whether that is a C model or not has several weird carbs that can be a bitch to keep working. I bought mine here on ADV Rider form an inmate out of Arizona for $400. Had it running for about $800. Sold it and not looking back. I bought the ATK cheap too, but I have put a fortune back into it. Something about handmade bikes that makes all their parts high as hell. I would avoid the KLX.

Schick, I would be glad to help with tire change but I do not static balance. I use Dynabeads
